Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I would say that as a beta reader I would be quite good. I have a sharp eye for errors and even sometimes as I'm reading I spot things and cringe and have to suppress and urge to review with things I've noticed. I've never beta-(ed?) a FF story but I am the person my friends come to at school to check over their work. I have a good vocabulary and would say that whenever I feel you could use a different word or phrase in a certain part of the story I may change it or at least let you know what I think. My style of Beta-(ing?)is one that might drive you insane because I am an absolute stickler for grammar. If you're not bothered about your grammar in particular, although in my humble opinion everyone should be bothered about grammar, then I would suggest I'm not the beta reader for you as that is what I will pick up on the most. I won't change much in the way of your story without your approval but the things I will change are the little mistakes that drive me insane like commas not in the right place or capital letters. I also hate spelling mistakes. I'm well aware that most spelling mistakes you see are typos but I will change them and make them right. If I'm going to change anything like sentence structure, say I think a few sentences could be swapped around or changed to give a better effect then I'll highlight it to the author and then if requested change it to how I think it should be. As all people, I'm not entirely infallible and I do miss things or misspell them myself so I'm naturally not particularly bothered if you feel what I've done does not fit the context of your story and wish to change it back. I'm the sort of person who won't let you have any input into my Beta-ing although I will ask you to explain why you think I'm wrong in certain /br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

If I'm going to Beta your stories then I do expect a certain level of quality. If I receive a story and it does not look as if the writer has even made an effort to edit/rectify it themselves then I feel I am at liberty to refuse as it would just mean too much work. Whilst I appreciate that for some people that is all the effort they may be able to put in, for example Dyslexia, in that case then I would ask to be informed of this along with your request. Also, I do not appreciate it when the whole chapter appears to have no enters whatsoever and is simply one large block of text. Even if you cannot split it up yourself because you do not understand paragraphing for instance, then it then it would be most appreciated if you could just put in a few enters anywhere before you send it to me, simply to make it easier on the eyes. I'm not largely fussed about the length of your stories or chapters and I will always persevere with a story. Whether it's a one shot or a large 300 chapter story with 4 sequels then I will try my best to Beta it to you and your reader's approval.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I think the things I excel in are:

-Grammar

-Spelling

-Paragraphing

-Wording

-Phrasing

-Sentence Structure

-Story Organisation

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I think the things I don't do so well at are:

-Dialogue

-Dialect

-Characterisation (When not familiar with the original, or when story is written OOC)

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like any story. I prefer to have read the original of the category so I understand the characters and such but in my opinion a good story can be understood if you haven't read the original. My favourite categories to Beta are Twilight, Doctor Who, Percy Jackson and Harry Potter because I enjoy to read them the most. I am happy to beta crossovers but only if I've read or watched at least one of the categories - say CSI and Harry Potter, although I've never watched a single CSI in my life I adore Harry Potter. I love anything fantasy or supernatural also.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't Beta murder/crime mystery stories. Well, I do but only if it's light hearted and not boring. Basically, whilst I'll Beta anything for Grammar and Spelling, if the story/original category is very serious then I may not be able to Beta it for wording/phrasing/characterisation errors.
