Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I would be thrilled to know that someone thinks that my writing is good enough to want me to read theirs as well and critique it. I am one of the beta readers who would like to give you feedback on the structure and plot of your story along with the grammar and all that crap. Whatever you would want me to do, I'll pretty much do it, as long as whatever the story plot is fits into the genres I am good with. Ex- Don't send me a purely romance story with no other plot besides 'Insert couple name here is in love and have their perfect family' because everything I would suggest would not be top quality, just because of my own disinterest in the subject.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can usually do grammar things, spellcheck is my back-up. People who don't put said things in quotes or don't capitalize really bother me. Fanfiction is to improve your writing skill, so use proper writing to post your stories, not chat-speak or- NEWS FLASH! NO ONE WITH ANY RESPECT FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WILL TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY. I personally think the quality of my writing is pretty good. Also I am good with solid feedback, I think, and using proper constructive criticism.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I sometimes do tend to miss grammatical mistakes. Face it dude, everyone does it. I have found little errors in published books, so that they slipped past not only the author but also a slew of editors, so, there you go. Also I find it hard to commit myself to a story if the concept of it just doesn't seem to interest me at fist, so you could say I have problems with new things. I get used to them after a while, so it's not that big of a deal. And plot structure is important. If you have no idea where the story's gonna go, in the end you'll probably abandon it, so I won't waste time with it. I like to know there is some direction to it.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Crossovers are always cool, they're a big part of my favorite stories. I have read just about every type of story at some time or another. Cannon couples are usually what I go for, because some of the other pairings are just weird or not my cup of tea. AU stories can be good sometimes and really enjoyable to me, but it depends a lot on what type of AU, so it really depends. So if you have a story that falls into one of those categories, I might despise it.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I am not a big slash fan, not just that, but more romance in general. Casefics are fine, but not the rambling ones that just keep going on and on for huundreds of chapters because it is tedious, and also not series with like 27 stories- yes I have seen more than one like that- because then I'd have to read all of those just to be up to date. AU stories it really depends on the setting. OOCness drives me crazy, although sometimes needed for the story, so I will struggle through a bit if need be. Like, if their best friend has just died, I will accept if a normally stoic character cries.
