I am a college student of sorts. I haven't been to school in 2 years, but I did take several courses in English and literary writings, specifically creative writing. I am rather competent, in my opinion, as to grammatical abilities, sentence structure as well as word choice.
While I don't particularly have any real expectations from anyone requesting my services to proofread/edit their works, I just ask that it is something that I am familiar with. To speed things up a bit during the edit/proofreading phase, if you are willing to exchange e-mails, it helps. I don't instant message and only operate via e-mail. This regular e-mail exchange during the length of your work(s) allows me to make suggestions, offer tips and pointers, and other various things without taking it re-writing something not written by the original author. This is a learning process for the author as well as the proofreader.
If you have a story you wish to acquire my services to assist with, please send me a sample of the story as well as the genre/series the story falls under. While it is in my capabilities to proofread and edit a work I am not familiar with, it would be much more beneficial for you if it is something I am knowledgeable about, so a little info prior to requesting assistance concerning your work would be great.
I mostly write about anime and/or manga series. I have seen a numerous amount of series and have read plenty as well. The list is somewhat lengthy, so it is probably better if you tell me what you are writing about. For the most part, my stories I write fall under the genres of angst/drama/romance/suspense. I am not skilled at comedy works, nor reflections from a character's point of view. Additionally, if you read my newer stories, you will see that I have moved more to writing in the first-person point of view. Granted, I am known to switch point of views within a story from one character to another, I generally write in first-person which allows an insight as to what that character may be thinking. I am able to write in third-person as my older stories show. However, in my opinion, writing in third-person gets a little bland and becomes more like "this character does this. that character does that." rather than "I went over there and saw this person doing this (description fitting character's personality)." I just feel you can do more in first-person writing, but if your story is third-person, that is fine with me.
Thank you for looking over this and best of luck to all the aspiring fan fiction authors out there, without you there would be nothing to read and enjoy. Many thanks to the producers of the origin for which these stories may come from, without them there would be no fan fiction. Hope to read your works out there, everyone.
