|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Who I am a a beta-reader. Well, that's hard to say. I am a lot less apt to procrastinate when I am working with someone else, but there are periods of time where writer's block could extend to beta-reading as well. I'd be sure to warn you if it was settling in, though ) As for my style of editing... Well, I use the standard methods: Look for surface errors of mechanics/syntax first, then things like sentence fluency, Mary-Sues, and finally character development and plotline funkiness. I don't have problems with OCs, with mixing up canon pairings, or with using canon characters. I do enjoy exploring the back stories of minor characters, which is what most of my longer works end up being. Also, if it helps, I got a 5 (highest score) on the AP Language and Composition exam recently, which means I might make a kick-ass editor.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a good eye for spelling and grammar, and I am told I can always spot a promising writer. In writing, I usually am good at drawing in the audience and keeping them there. I'm not afraid to tell you when there are issues to fix, but I'm not a bitch about it either. I think I can give you valuable advice on how to write a good story and enjoy yourself doing it, as well as help you get more readers.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do admit, I make mistakes as much as anyone, and one of my weaknesses is that I tend to get attached to the minor characters and when authors kill them off, it lowers my opinion if the death was unnecessary. If it was necessary, then you're fine. As a writer, I can sometimes be rushed and not get into enough detail. I also sometimes get writer's block (don't we all) and neglect to write anything at all.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
DeathNote, Warriors, and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, are the main three, but I have read many, many more than just those, so please, submit whatever your piece is. I will read pretty much anything, even if I haven't read/watched the original. I'm okay with slash, femslash, fluff, whatever. I appreciate intricate stories that are intellectual and respect the laws of the universe xD
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I tend to dislike Twilight stories because some people are so eager to tell the world their version that they forget to make sure that the story is real quality writing, or that the author isn't really an author, and is only writing because of the craze. But if you think your Twilight fic is good, then I will read it. Not really a fan of mpreg or smut, but I'll still edit the story if you want me to.
