|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello! My job in this position is to work with you, not force you to do something, and make sure that your story idea comes out just as you intended. I am opinionated, goofy, and a bit sarcastic, but I take everything in stride. No idea is too weird and no plot plans are stupid, your ideas are wonderful just as they are and I am here to help develop or enhance. My place in your creative process is to assist you in anyway you see fit, whether that be just reading over something, editing for grammar and spelling, and/or just being someone you can bounce ideas off of. I am available most days and willing to work to help you put your best foot forward, so to speak. As well, I try to employ a simple system that can do the best good, asking for four basic things. TEDS, as I'm deciding to call it, still working on the name though, stands for four crucial things. T is Tell Me, because most people don't put any sort of description on a line of dialogue, which makes it confusing at times and frankly boring. E is Expand, because while many people have awesome concepts and ideas in their stories, they don't know when to expand it to improve said story. D is for Detail, because while an author will describe an outfit to the tee, they won't give basic body language or tone. And finally, S is for Show Me, because usually it's better to give enough detail so that someone can see the scene instead of just being told about it. In short, I just try to make a story the best it can be, without forcing someone into anything they do not wish to do. Bottom line is that as of now, December '16, I have been on this site for six years and change; with that experience, I want to help others as much as I can if they need help. And if that means looking over a chapter or even holding your hand through the process (which I doubt you awesome people need), I'm willing to do it. Whatever floats your boat I am willing to work with. - DISCLAIMER: Due to my skills being wanted, which I don't know how that happened, I am limited on who I can help and I can not just due to a lack of time. This being said, I have a first come first serve policy. If you have a story you would like me to look at, asking now would be better than later! :)
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've always had this knack for making the story seem connect, so that it flows. At least with my own stories, I want to make sure that the idea is a fluid thing that the reader is able to process easily but there is still depth. Logic is always a strong point for me because while that is not the point of some stories, there needs to be some element of logic in the story to ensure that the idea being told resonates with the reader and gets the emotional or physical point across that the author (you) is trying to portray. I find that it is easy to establish myself in a character's point of view, which ensures that the actions and language of that character is canon (unless you are going for crack or AU). The audience tends to appreciate that the story unfolds as is would of if the characters were truly playing out the plot. Also, I love writing dialogue. Maybe it's just me, but just trying to create the back and forth of two characters in my mind and writing it out is just awesome because usually it tends to be in character. So yes, see me if you need help with writing dialogue! I also tend to be decently quick, depending on my schedule, at getting my beta assignments done - as oppose to my own stories, which I never update due to a lack of muse. Oh well. I also feel personally responsible for my beta assignments because I like to make a personal connection with the authors I'm working with. More often than not I become friends with my people and I feel like I owe them to help them as much as possible. This being said, I also like to keep people informed about delays that might be happening or just talk to them if they need it.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
At times, I sometimes to miss a letter or misspell a word. Most of the time, this occurs in my own stories because I know the plot, I wrote it, so when i am reading it over I skip over the mistake and just input the correct word. I have gotten better at this, but it still pops up from time to time. Due to this, I am not a grammar nazi, it would be hypocritical of me. I will work with you to prevent spelling mishaps, but they might happen in rare occasions. No one's perfect. I also have a life, I mean I am alive, so there may come times when delays occur in getting the chapter back because my family drags me off to the theme park or something. No, I am not joking, that happened just the other day and it caused slight wrinkles with my assignments. This being said, just be aware that I will try my best, but somethings may happen.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
In terms of fandoms: Any story that falls under the same fandoms I have written for (Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers - Depending on Season -, Mission Impossible Ghost, Green Hornet, etc) as well as these fandoms, which I have yet to have the pleasure of writing for: Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Hawaii Five 0, Merlin, The Sentinel, X-Men (First Class/Movies - you lose me with comics), Walking Dead (Tv, no comics), Common Law, Iron Man, Avengers, Boondock Saints, Law and Order SVU, Sherlock, Four Brothers, Being Human US and UK, Elementary, Pacific Rim, Red Vs Blue, Doctor Who, and others that I cannot remember off the top of my head. Just ask if you have any questions. If you do not see a fandom on this list, just send me a PM! If it turns out that I am not familiar, I can still help, you might just have to give me some background. I'm here to help you with what you need. In terms of type, such as hurt/comfort, it really just depends on the idea. I am open to most everything and due to that I am willing to work on most anything: Mpreg, torture, slash, blind, animal transformation, BRING IT ON. If you rather go with a more normal idea, that's perfectly fine, my point being that the things I do not like make a very short list, which you will see below. so the best thing to do is ask. Same thing goes for pairings, because while I might not necessarily ship what you ship, that does not mean that I can't help with everything else. I might just sulk a little bit in protest. If you wonder what I ship and what I don't and what I kinda, sorta ship, the best thing to do is ask! I do not discriminate on sexual orientation, I just look for chemistry. That being said, I am cool with hetero, slash, yuri, trans, and everything under the sun. Just talk to me if you have any questions, I promise I don't bite.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
1) Mary Sues. I am willing to work with you to make sure that your OC does not turn into a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, but if you bring me a story with a giant Mary Sue and you are unwilling to change anything about it to make your character more believable, I can't do anything for you. I actually have OCs in some of my stories, so I get the need for new characters, but understand that mary sues are like my holy water. I will hiss and back away slowly from a story with a mary sue.
