|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When I beta stories, the author generally holds a love/hate relationship with me. I am meticulous and every once in a while a bit anal, but I really work hard to help him or her in the long run; not simply for the sake of the current chapter.br /
I'm not so in on the "fanfiction fads." It's nothing to do with my age; I'm just not so good about staying on top of things. But once I'm brought up to speed, I'm good.br /
My only expectation is that the person I'm beta-ing for is able to take criticism. I don't like to outright criticise and often don't, but when I do, I really hate fit-throwing.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strenghts are spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. I'm also fairly good at spotting those smaller plot holes and Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu tendencies.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My biggest weakness is that, if I really like the story, I can get too caught up in the overall that I miss some smaller details. I also every once in a while go through periods of time where I get distracted easily by other things and can forget what I should be doing. This does not happen often, though, and can often be remedied with a simple, quick reminder.br /
I also have, as of yet, fairly limited experience.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I am honestly open to anything. Yes, I have my OTP(s), but I am willing to beta others, even those involving one half of an OTP of mine but not another. My top fandoms are Harry Potter, Torchwood/Doctor Who, and WTWM. I don't have an iron-clad heart or a steel-lined stomach, but I honestly don't care if a story makes me want to cry or a little queasy; that tells me the author's on the right track. So hit me with your best shot :).
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I prefer an average number of medium to long-ish chapters (if it's a multi-chapter) to a lot of short ones or really long ones that are spaced really far apart; the latter is a lot harder for me to analyze for plot.
