Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a college student, so if you need someone to read and review RIGHT NOW, I'm not for you. However, if you want someone patient, understanding, and articulate on what you do well and what you don't, then I'd say I'm happy and honored to look at your work. :)
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
When reviewing, I will always be diplomatic. I give constructive criticism, and will not tell you "you suck, go away" no matter how bad or good your story is. Everyone can be a great writer and create great stories with a little practice, and I will be sure to tell you not just what doesn't work and why, but also what does work and why. I'm great with grammar and punctuation errors and catch them fairly easily. I also have a feeling for pace I think is decent, so that's a positive.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. I guarantee that I'll catch errors far less frequently than your spellchecker, so please always use it! I can also sometimes be a little comma heavy.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'll review basically anything, but my favourites are adventure, romance, well-done angst, one shots, friendship, and anything written train-of-thought. However, those are my favourites; as I said, I'm pretty accepting. Right now my real passion is Dragon Age and Mass Effect. But, once again, I have tons of interests, so feel free to ask.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Anything too technical. If I'm reading through a Sci-Fi fic and it's too technical, I'll be no use to you, because I won't be able to point out when you've done something that doesn't make any sense. For example, if you're writing a Star Trek story and your hero/heroine is escaping from Klingons/Cardassians/Borg/Gem'Hadar/Romulans/Whatever, and they use a "phase-varied tachyon pulse" to lose their nemesis, I'll have no idea if that's wrong or not because, honestly, does anyone know what that means? ;) Anyway, please no stories that are technical most of the time.
