Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I shine as a proofreader, but am very complete in my reading. As a rule, things that bug me include: missing words- big one, bad choice of what words to put into the story- either "word demons"/synonyms/homophones, and swear /

br /

By and large, that's about it for what to /

br /

While I will read stories that depict sex-acts (ONLY if the story has the promise in its nature of showing them as evil acts!), I vastly prefer chaste stories, sibling bonds are a favorite of mine, same with the theme/genre of adoption (LOVE that one!), and therefore: stepsiblings, hence: stepfamilies and the /

br /

These days I don't think I mind really reading stories involving people "as lovers", but *siblings* as lovers is simply gross- oh, I'll read the story and proofread it, but don't ask me to *like* it- I don't like that behavior at all! Frankly, my attitude on "lovers" (of *Any* kind) is better reserved for mentioning in the confessional of my religious affiliation as a matter of abusing my neighbor in the most physically violent manner possible! (Thankfully I never was able to act upon *those* desires, and thank Heaven for that- I know I do! And that's not blasphemy, its praise for protection!)br /

br /

That's yet another strength I have: I can "muscle down" my passions and listen to/handle mentions of bad behavior in my eyes that'd bring me to some truly *horrible* behaviors; but that's what I attribute to God- the Source of that strength of character in /

br /

I do not mind at all, and have no objections to, informing people of the difference between "Supernatural" (NOT the series- the true quality or level of performance) and "Preternatural"; "Supernatural" means a level of performance that only a Deity can produce, but said Deity can, and does, "transmit" His strength to His creatures to do jobs for Him; whereas "Preternatural" means the level of either the human soul (which includes the mind- a "function" housed in the brain) and other created spirits, beings we often in literature record contact with that we humans call "angels"; those are creatures, like us, and some of those utterly alien beings to us basically went traitor- and have distinctly ill will towards we humans, but they're a minority. It's a performance level difference that people get wrong so often these days- and, this is a strength- I won't hesitate to criticize *anyone* who gets *anything* wrong.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strong suit is mostly consistency in writing, and I'm very good at pointing out "word demons" or synonyms/homophones, and how they can mess up the /

br /

I have already partnered up with a number of other writers to get their stories continued, and I have found great joy in that "troubleshooting", always my only "price" is that the story gets /

br /

Religious themes, History Fiction, and drama, as well as fantasy are some of my favorites and strong /

br /

I cannot portray how magic spells/rituals would work in fantasy stories, but as far as the *corruption* therein, I am a Master at describing the addiction thereto.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to be a perfectionist, and often have trouble ending a very good story /

br /

Sometimes, even now, after many decades of reading as a hobby, my knowledge of what a word is spelled like escapes me; I also tend to have trouble with run-on sentences, /

br /

I also read slowly, but carefully when I read, so getting through a lot can take quite a long /

br /

I don't know how to portray "magic" *yet* in stories, nor such rituals, as far as fantasy tales, sorry, folks, I've been reading up on it in novels for understanding the "how" in fantasy to improve my writing style, but so far, no luck- can't really help you there, but the *corruption* thereof; oh, I am *well suited* for that role of describing it, believe me!

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I find stories about family bonds my favorite: some of my favorite touches are the drama of someone winding up with a step-parent all of a sudden, especially in a very odd case, like if the stepparent is actually *younger* than their stepchild (I *LOVE* that drama that'd result there!); I'm also a huge fan of crime fics, especially some "evil executive type", take for instance Hitler or Stalin sneaking into control of the country- then the whole political system thereof goes sideways badly! That's what I mean by "evil executive",,, I also like stories where such a man winds up with a buddy who helps them, or may help them, to reform. Some of my favorite touches are where the character shows up in a radically different "universe" from what they /

br /

Religious themes are a favorite of mine, and, along with history fics, are strong suits of mine, so they're preferred, as well as, for instance, someone using spells to try to get a "leg up" on a rival, so: corruption in the work-place is a favorite of mine to /

br /

I do have a LOT of favorites, and rivalry is definitely a preferred "field" for me to read/write /

br /

A *favorite* concept of mine to read is jealousy in the home leading to domestic abuse, and *weird* behavior between a parent and a child, so: crime stories- they fit right into my readable genres, just so long as they're portrayed *as* criminal acts!

Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't really care for "male/male slash", nor any sex-acts depicted in anything, really, and I do NOT want to encounter anything that advocates *for* intrinsic immorality in terms of natural law being advocated for- but as long as it's seen as something *wrong*, I am okay with it. I don't also have much understanding of sports- never really was interested in them, but I *don't* have any *problem* with the topic... it's just not the sort of thing I'd watch in my spare time- nothing conscientious in the nature of my dislike of it, the topic has never held my interest as far as "what to watch" /

br /

It really bugs me when anybody uses the wrong term; for instance: "Supernatural" to refer to "Preternatural"- keep them seperate, as they are distinct levels, and remember: "Supernatural" (as a level) refers only to the performance level of a Deity, something NO creature can match or even hope to reach!
