Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey guys, I'm a spelling/grammar/capitalization/punctuation freak. Granted, you will indefinitely find the occassional typo in my own writings, but I find at least four typos per published novel. . . So no judgement there, eh?br /br /br /br /

That's easy. You have to have tried. Yes, I understand there are lots of dyslexic people (I would've been dyslexic myself, being left-handed and all, if my parents hadn't caught it and wired me out of it at a young age) and I understand dyslexia or maybe English as a second language can make things like spelling and grammar difficult. HOWEVER, I expect youto have at least have made an attempt to conquer these anomalies that make up the English languag. . . .br /br /br /br /

In other words, if you send me a post that has no paragraphs, no punctuation, I can't tell wehre sentences end and where dialogue is - sorry. I have not the patience to attempt to improve such writing when it is obvious the writer did not have the interest to even make an /br /br /br /

That's my only requirement, as of yet (in the future, I may think of more. . . .). But for anyone who can actually be called a writer, if you have something brilliat to get out in the Universe for us all to read, I'm game. Bring it on. br /br /

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
When it comes to textual editing, I am an excellent speller (for the most part), and I would like to believe I am without fault when it comes to punctuation, capitalization, and grammar. (My grammar obsession will not apply to purposefully incorrect grammar, for instance in the case of dialogue/internal dialogue/first person perspective.)br /br /br /

When it comes to story flow, I'm obsessed with dialogue. I think dialogue can be the most important element of a story. Lame dialogue can completely ruin a story or movie for me. So I would say dialogue is a strength of mine, as a writer, editer, and dialogue-judger of everything I read or watch!

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not great at plots. I never could come up with good plots easily; characters, yes, plots, not so much. I think I can tell you if you have a good plot or not though, however I might be less useful if it came to offering /br /br /

Please keep this in mind. I don't want someone coming to me with "My plot sucks, help me," because then Imight have to tell them that I'm not so good at plot-writing and have to turn them down for their own sake. And I'm sure my dignity and ego could handle that more than a few times. So please spare me the trouble.

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm really fine with any genre, although. . .br /br /br /

I would prefer science fiction. Star Trek, particularly, since I am EXTREMELY familair with that unvierse. Although I am beta anything scifi related. I read obscene amounts of scifi, so I am very familiar with the qualities a scifi story should /br /br /

Talking animals, always good. That's the only kind of fantasy I can do. . . Think "Warriors" by Erin Hunter, "Watership Down" by Richard Adams, "Seven For A Secret" (I think that's what it's called) by Clive Wooddall. . . et /br /br /

I can beta romance. Any rating, smut doesn't bother me a bit. In fact I think I'd pretty good at beta-ing erotica; I've read enough of it to know what's good and waht's /br /br /

I love cop shows; that's what I watch. Thus, if you have a fic from a show like Bones, NCIS, Psych, Lie To Me. . . I'M ALWAYS HERE.

Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm not going to flat-out refuse anything. . . However I will say that if a story bores me, it's going to be much harder to beta. Once I have gotten some experience betareading, I'll post anything I'd rather not have to beta again. . . Although at the moment, I think I'm up for anything.
