Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I see it as the beta reader's job to correct a story, not to rewrite it completely. If you want me to help you all I expect is that the story be coherent. I'm pretty willing as a beta reader, in this way, but I don't want to have to change everything I see. If you completely dislike a chapter and the way it's written then make it so it would be acceptable if I sent it back unchanged. This isn't to say that I would do this, but I'm only here to improve, not to take crap and make it good (and it's only crap if you think it's crap). br /br /br /br /

Though I don't have a ton of experience on this site I've already proofread a number of works of those I know and what not. I'm pretty familiar with the English language, so I'm confident in myself in the way I use it.br /br /br /br /

As a beta reader? I'm probably one of the most critical people you will ever meet, and I don't hesitate to tell someone what they need to do to improve. I don't think I've ever outright said "This is awful!" but it's not unlike me to leave five thousand character reviews purely made up of constructive critique. It wouldn't be below me to say "This fell beneath my expectation, you should write it better, and here's how to do so.."br /br /br /br /

Well, I tend to add comments throughout a story, and I don't hesitate to change something if I see it fit. I guess I may be a little concieted, but I know how to write. That much I'm sure of. I guess that sums up my style: lot's of comments and little alterations.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My greatest strength...I would have to say that I turn language into art. I don't care if it's a gruesome scene, wording can make it beautiful. If I have one thing that sets me away from other writers, it would have to be that. I've lately been realizing I'm pretty talented with figurative language. I know where to pick out a symbol, how to declare it's meaning, and imagery is my schtick. I can paint a picture down to the point where you feel the atmosphere down to the smell of the air. At least, I think so. My best example of this would probably be the beginning of my story "Christmas in Sunny Spain" because I really like how I wrote it. Yes, well...nobody's ever commented on my use of imagery in that story but it doesn't matter to me. I can't base my writing completely on the reviews, because there are always at least two people who Favorite or add a story to their Alerts for those who review, right? Who knows what those people are thinking...br /br /br /br /

Oh, and commonly confused words. I always notice that people make a lot of mistakes as far as those go, and they're pretty easy for me to spot. I think I stressed them a little too much in my English classes, but it's a good thing.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Weaknesses? Well, of course I have them. I would say that, though I have a very extensive vocabulary, I have a hard time using it thoroughly. Sometimes the way I write seems redundant to me, but no one ever comments on it so maybe it isn't as obvious to them as it is to me, the author. Either way, a flaw is a flaw, and I have to fix it.br /br /br /br /

What else...I tend to write and correct very late at night (so late that it's more appropriate to call it early morning...) and thus I may not catch all mistakes, but I usually go through and proofread at least twice. br /br /br /br /

What's more, I tend to want to make a story my own. Don't worry, I'll restrain myself, I just tend to want to change a lot of stuff in a piece of writing.

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Well, I guess it shouldn't really matter since what I'm doing is looking for mistakes, but I'd probably have to say that I prefer to read and correct stories that are from an anime, book, etc that I know, that has characters that I know, and if it's romance isn't one of the couples I despise. Other than that, I guess all I can say is I'd rather a story that's been proofread by the author themself.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
The exact opposite of what I prefer. I don't think I would enjoy a story from a fandom I know nothing about, and if I despise the characters then I'm going to despise your story. That's pretty much it.
