|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello, I don't know how you found me, but apparently I'm a beta now.
So I guess I would like a general summary of your story to see if I'm interested and what it's about. Just to get an idea of what kind of plot line you have in mind and who the main characters will be. I will never make direct changes to your actual document; all my comments will be added on the side since they are merely suggestions and you, the author, will have the final say as to whether you decide to follow my proposals or not. Um, I don't think I'm blunt, but I definitely won't sugar-coat anything either.
I admit I'm not the fastest beta reader. Some days, I have more time than others, so please bear with me if I don't reply to you for a while. That doesn't mean I forgot about it though; there's always school that gets in the way of things. If you notice that I haven't replied to you for a while, feel free to just PM me!
I'm not particularly interested in giving grammar lessons either, so I expect you to have a decent amount of knowledge on how punctuation and all that works. If not, I'll most likely decline since there's only so much I can do if you don't have the basics down.
I'm willing to focus on editing anything you want me to, so if you have specific concerns, just tell me. I hope we can work together!
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Hmm, grammar is definitely a strong point.
Also, plot holes. It's really easy for me to point these out, and they are the most annoying to fix, in my opinion. Sometimes, because of a single plot hole, you will have to rewrite an entire chapter or multiple chapters, and if you're lazy like me, it would just be bothersome to go back and change everything. On the other hand, this could also be one of the most important things. Because what's a story with good grammar, spelling, and characterization if nothing really happens or if things don't make sense?
Characterization. I have a pretty good grasp on how characters from the original anime/book would react in certain situations and although I might not be able to tell you exactly how to correct this, I can at least tell you that their personality is off or not. I like to think that "you don't really know a character until you can write fanfiction for them." Of course, I'm more familiar with certain characters compared to others, so there's that.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
The biggest one would be time. I procrastinate. I mentioned this earlier, but sometimes I just get really busy and other times, you could receive the edited version of your document back within a day. Inconsistent, I know, haha. I'll always try my best to get back to you as soon as possible, though.
I'm not too good at writing pure fluff; angst is more my genre. Nonetheless, I'll still give you feedback to the best of my ability.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Preferred genres: mystery, adventure, romance, angst, etc. Almost anything.
Stories that are fun to write, but stories that also have a certain level of seriousness in them. AUs are perfectly fine and I love a good OC story, as long as there aren't too many to the point where I won't be able to keep track of them all. Feel free to ask me to beta for any fandom that I have included in the list below though it might be a little outdated because I'm always watching anime and reading books. So really, just ask me about a fandom, even if it's not included at the bottom there, and it should be fine as long as I'm familiar with it.
To sum it up, anything with a good plot that interests me.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Basically nothing with lemons, just because I don't think I would be able to help you much in that department. Yaoi is okay; yuri, I'm kind of iffy about. It really depends.
Feel free to ask me for anything!
