|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a Beta-reader, it's really not my job to be picky over who I Beta. It, however, is my job to check grammar, spelling, accuracy of plot points or character styling, help to close up plot holes, and fix up the formatting of your piece. You, the writer, are the creative genius. I, the Beta, am the security checkpoint that makes sure all parts of your story are cleaned up and good to go!
As a writer, you will almost surely know where your story is going if it is meant to be in multiple chapters. However, if you give me just one chapter at the beginning to check over, I won't know everything that you do. It would be incredibly helpful if you could give me an idea of where your story/characters are going so I can appropriately edit what you have, it will keep both of our stress levels low.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very strict when it comes to spelling and grammar. A story that is easy on the eyes is easier to love! I excel at making sure the story in question will make sense with phrasing as well.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Keeping to the same tense is something I struggle with myself as I write. I also may get a little distracted by other stories, so I work better on a deadline by which you need your work checked.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Romance, Humor, Smut, Sci-fi, Drama, Supernatural, Adventure, Fantasy, and Family are the general genres I find I enjoy most, and enjoying it makes Beta-reading a lot easier!
I can go first, second, or third person; reader-insert, OC, canon characters, I'll do it all!
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm not at all fond of horror and gore, whether reading, watching, or creating it. If it is a necessary scene, I recognize that, and I have no issues there. However, if your story focuses on a disturbing matter in such categories, I will have to pass.
Poetry is also not a genre I'm particularly excited to Beta, and the same goes with Tragedies.
