|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Usually when I betaread I read it multiple times, each time with a different style in mind. The first time, I attempt to immerse myself as much as possible in the story, reading it as a casual reader might. This helps me gather my initial thoughts and point out the most jarring flaws, as the largest problems are ones that even the most fanciful readers will notice. The second time through, I start looking more for proper spelling, grammar use, characterisation, plot development, etc. etc. Finally, the third and usually last time I betaread, I stop any notion of reading for pleasure, instead focusing almost entirely on technical issues. However, depending on what each story and author wishes for me to do, I can be flexible and adjust my betareading style as is needed. /br /

After all, the most important thing is that I, as a reader, can help you, the author, with your story.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I like to think that I have a fine eye for catching spelling mistakes - if you are willing to plod through a comment for each and every wrong word, then I'm your girl. Should you require assistance with descriptions and / or thinking up alternatives to words, I would be happy to help as well. I'm also a pedant for grammar and flow, although I can't say I'm always the best with grammar, as I tend to value artistic flair over strictly sticking to what is 'proper'.
Other than that, I don't believe I truly excel in any other area; I generally fare alright with most areas relevant to writing and editing, so you could say that, in a way, I'm a jack-of-all-trades.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Poetry. If you try to make me give a critical opinion regarding poetry, I will probably do a lot worse than if you had asked me to review a piece of literature. While I very much enjoy reading and writing poetry, I'm afraid my feedback may not be the most constructive. However, I will always try my best! The same goes for problems with description and writing style - I adore prose (so much so that occasionally I write some horrible purple prose) but I'm not terribly helpful when it comes to helping someone develop their writing style, because I went through (and still do!) a process to develop my own voice, so ensuring that each writer has their own distinctive voice, without any of my own impositions, is incredibly important to me.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Certainly - preferred genres include comedy, romance, fantasy and the equivalent of YA. Despite that, I am open to any and all genres, so please, send me a request and I'll be more than likely to accept!
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm going to have to say that I'm normally going to be against betareading heavy smut. This means bondage, torture for sexual reasons, rape, and so forth. That also means that I'm somewhat against reading terribly severe violence, but once again, I'm open for almost anything, so if you send me a message for something you may not feel would be suited to me, well hey, who knows? I may just accept. I would also like to review stories from fandoms I am familiar with, so that I may actually provide insight towards characterisation, but if you are alright with having more concise feedback, then feel free to throw anything at me.
