Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey! I'm pretty sure you can read my name, so I won't go into the tiny details associated with that. Generally as a Betareader, I am at the forefront, a reader. If I am not interested in your plot, I will not be much help as I have never been one to invest myself into anything that I don't support. Due to this, when I find a story that I am interested in, I will be incredibly committed to you for the long haul if you'll have me. Typically, I focus on grammar, punctuation, and spelling while turning a strong eye onto character development. I enjoy reading stories that can transform a canon character into a believable, realistic person that has flaws that are not originally portrayed when they were created. I am capable of assisting in this process and/or noting when I feel like you may have slightly been off the mark with your characterizations. Expectations really are minimal aside from the obvious; I expect creative, original work, a great attitude, and an ability to take constructive criticism. Whoever you are, I am pleased to make your acquaintance.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My biggest strengths come from my ability to pick out grammar, incorrect use of punctuation, and spelling errors. I am also well-versed in character development so I will be a capable soundboard if you need to bounce ideas of a specific character's direction or decisions off of me and will keep you on the right path so that you avoid Out of Character scenarios with canon characters. Generally, I'd like to think I'm open-minded and an honest person so if I do not like something, I will let you know prior to you posting something up.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As a writer, I have a horrible tendency to fall flat when it comes to 'filler' or transitional pieces of writing that take you from one key moment to the next as my creativity gets a little stunted during that process. As a reader, I am incredibly critical when it comes to staying true to a canon character's personality which can result in candid comments and critical judgment of a piece.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer reading romance and adventure that carry unique twists. I also adore mysteries and dramas that keep you on your toes. However, this does not mean I'm limited to those areas specifically. If I find something compelling or original in your piece, regardless of the genre, I will most likely become hooked - I'm a sucker for originality.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I really would prefer to not read any stories that have Mary Sue-like characters - this generally means that I stay away from OCx[Some Canon Character] romance stories.
