|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm pretty open to various plot ideas and pairings, and I like to try new things, so even if I'm unfamiliar with the fanbase you're writing for, I'll research it before I beta to make sure I'm completely prepared to do my job. I do have certain pairings that I prefer to ship, but I try to be open-minded, so chances are if your story is good, I'd love to help out. I'm also completely game for taking on M rated projects (as long as it's tasteful, and not disturbing, i.e. Dumbledore and Dobby getting it on in the Chamber of Secrets or some random crap like that). The one catch is, I am a full-time student, so I would be most available on weekends, and some nights after school. I'm willing to beta for pretty much anyone, UNLESS the writing, plot, or grammar is already so bad that I deem it irreparable. Not pointing fingers, but it's true and we all know it- some people kinda suck at writing. But hey, just my opinion.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm a pretty strong writer, and I'm really creative, so I'm good at offering suggestions if you ever get stuck with your plot. I'm really anal about everything being grammatically correct, and I also pay a lot of attention to spelling, so I'm a great proofreader. I speak French, conversational Japanese, and a bit of Elvish (nerd moment), so I'm pretty good at checking translations to or from those languages. I'm also a very fast reader, so I'm a great choice in a snap, or if you need last-minute checks before posting an overdue chapter for your rabid fans. I'm not flighty, so once I make a commitment to a story, I'll stick with it (unless something urgent happens in my personal life, or if the story takes a weird turn and I can't deal with it, i.e. in a story about Arwen and Aragorn, we find out that Aragorn is actually a girl, and they have a threesome with Legolas. I'm sad to say I've actually been surprised by such plot twists many times in my years on . It never gets easier to deal with).
This is one of the circumstances where being a grammar nazi is really beneficial! I promise to fix the crap out of your story.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm only a good writer when I'm genuinely interested in the topic. Because of that, I usually won't beta unless I'm really captivated by the story.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I tend to prefer certain pairings over others, and those are the stories I like best. These are my OTPs:
Star Trek: Spock X Nyota
Harry Potter: Ginny x Draco, Dramione, Tonks x Remus
Book Thief: Max x Liesel
Twilight: Quil x Claire. That's it. Everybody else go home
Inuyasha: Rin x Sesshomaru
FMA: Riza x Roy, Winry x Edward
Steins; Gate: Okabe x Kurisu
Other pairings I enjoy betaing for are Max x Fang (Maximum Ride), Mr. Darcy x Elizabeth (Pride & Prejudice), Fiolee (Adventure Time) and Tsukushi x Domyouji (Hana Yori Dango). There are more, but it'd take way too long to list them. Those are just the ones I'm the most interested atm. If you have a question, just pm me about it.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I WILL NOT betaread (or even read, for that matter) anything with old person sex. I don't want Dumbledore romance. No matter who it's with. Sames with Gandalf, Old Quil,... pretty much anybody super old having an M moment, no way am I going near that.
I can tell you with almost perfect certainty that I won't beta anything related to sexual abuse unless it's under certain circumstances, i.e. if it's a briefly mentioned/hinted at thing (NOT the story's focus), and the victimized character is able to overcome and escape his or her circumstances and lives happily ever after, blah blah blah.
