|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Who I am as a beta-reader, eh? Well for one, I was an editor for my high school newspaper for 3 years, so I've gotten good at looking for grammatical errors, as well as revising word choice, structure, etc. You can expect me to be brutally honest, if I don't like what I'm reading I will let you know. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings or anything, I just tell it like it is. However, I will tell you ways I think you could make your writing better. Now when it comes to the storyline and plot, if there is something that I feel doesn't quite fit, doesn't make sense, or just needs to be changed, I will throw in ideas for that too. I will leave all final changes up to you, so if there is a part that I feel should be removed, but you still want to keep it, then by all means go ahead and keep it. One last thing, if what you wrote is simply horrible and full of mistakes, or is nothing but "OMG lik teh b0y wnte owtsied !! 11!", I will simply refuse to read it and will inform you that you have some serious work to do, and that only when it is written in English will I edit.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a great spellchecker, and notice most if not all grammatical errors. I am also good at fixing sentence structure and fluency. I am pretty good at rearranging and editing storyline-related items so that the writing as a whole makes more sense.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not always sure that the changes I've made are entirely correct, but I will let you know if I'm having doubts. The majority of the time I know what I'm talking about. Probably one of my major weaknesses is that I can sometimes not pay full attention to what I'm reading, particulary if the story is dull or if I'm too distracted by the amount of mistakes, but I swear that I will try my best to make sure that doesn't happen.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta stories that have a good plot and deep characters. If there is suspense, action, adventure, romance, or fantasy, that is fine by me. I only want humor if it is either sarcastic, smart, subtle or dry. Random humor is okay as long is there is an actual storyline, and it isn't nothing more than abuse of the Caps-Lock with a million exclamation points. As long as the story can grab my attention, make me want to know the ending, then I would love to read it.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Anything involving anime, please leave me out. Also if it is humor, I don't want to read a plotless, sugar-high story, I am long past those days. Nothing overly sexual or crude either. Keep swearing to a minimum, I only want to read a curse-word filled story if there is actually a point.
