Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I haven't done any beta reading officially before. br /

br /

I'm always willing to help but I will be picky, as I must find a story of interest to be able to continue past the first br /br /br /br /br /

br /

To get an idea of how I Beta:br /br /br /br /br /

br /

I tend to read it through once, where I find spelling and grammar. I also the feel for the story. The second read through helps me establish areas of plots and get a feel for the characters, and the flow. Then I'll read it through a third time to make sure I haven't missed anything and add any other suggestions. br /

br /

After the first chapter, I will also re-read the previous chapter for continuity purposes. br /

br /

Please note the following: If you're sending me a medium-long to long chapter, ie in excess of 5000 words, please consider that I work and do have a home life that extends beyond Fanfiction, However, I am an insomniac, so that shouldn't be a major issue. I will do my utmost to send chapters back in a timely fashion with my best constructive criticism (safe estimate a week).br /

br /

I'll do my best to validate my criticize. Always remember that it is my opinion and a suggestion, if as the author you dislike my comments/criticism, you do not have to take or use them.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
1) Mythology – if you are writing and including mythological creatures (ie. werewolves, vampires, dragons) and/or gods I am well versed in most pantheons and /br /br /br /br /

2) Grammar/Spelling - I am reasonable at finding minor and major grammatical problems including common and not-so-common mistakes and I'm usually good finding spelling errors. Additionally, I have a reasonably extensive vocabulary, and will tend to avoid repetition. br /br /br /br /br /

3) Continuity - Once I get past chapter 1 (prologue or whatever it happens to be titled) I can keep the facts, flow and structure of your story going forward pretty well based on what was established prior. I don't like plot holes, and will point them out. If they are teasers (which are fine and great way to lead into subplots) and I mention the point it may be that they need a bit more fleshing out to not seem out of place. br /br /br /br /br /

4) Character Development: I adore great character, I find I will continue reading weak, even hole ridden plots when the characters are full. It is more that image, and I will do my best to keep the characters in line with the vision of the author and true to how they are portrayed. I will ask questions to flush points. br /br /br /br /br /

5)Plotting – subplots or if the destination for your end in not in mind right away, I can probably give some good feedback; as to where stuff can be added/improved or removed. Personally, I'm a stream of conscience writer, however if there are hinted ides I will ask to flush out points.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
1) Random Scenes – these are chapters that are not complete enough to be a one shot, but can not be directly tied to the story, I am personally bad at writing these as ideas come out before the rest of the story ties, But my experience may help if you have this issue. br /br /br /br /br /

3) Tangent Information – along the same idea as cut scenes minor characters, or side bar information may create it’s own chapter in my work. This complicates a story and can make it difficult for the author to balance the plot lines, however this can make it more interesting for the reader.

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I tend to write mainly fantasy/supernatural so I naturally prefer to read and stick to those genres without really realizing it. I really enjoy reading mystery/suspense and sometimes horror. I enjoy SciFi, though do not like to get too technical, that is where I find the most holes can be punched. In order of preference I'd say supernatural/fantasy, (even though supernatural tends to be a subgenre of fantasy), scifi, suspense/thriller, romance and then horror. However, if you have a great idea that you want to share with the world, give it a try. Violence isn't normally an issue, with me nor is gore (please not gratuitous, there should be a point), regardless of the nature of the act. (non-con, torture, fighting). The same goes for “adult” content as violence. Since this is , br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

Please note this for all applicants, I'm not against humor, anxy or paredy as genres but you have to make it believable. I believe that these elements are best in a story, not as stand- alone plots (perhaps one-shots or two). br /br /br /br /br /br /br /

Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
There's not much that truly bothers me, as long as it works with the plot, even if paper thin plot. If it bothers me, you'll be the first to know, I assure you and I'll be polite too.
