|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello everyone!br /
I am a fellow fanfiction writer, as well as someone who authors their own stories, and has done so for the past six years. I'm a more recent member to this community, but I have one complete story already up and several more on the way. As a betareader I'm really keen about seeking a discernible plot in the work I'm reading over, and I'm quite a grammar Nazi. Despite this, I'm quite laid back and love bouncing ideas around with prospective authors. I'm always willing to give you my honest opinion, to respect yours, as well as offer you helpful suggestions where I'm /
As far as expectations go, be aware that I go to school full time, as well as work full time, AND work on my own personal works, so I may not get back to you immediately, but I am as prompt as I possibly can be with responses. I ask that you be open-minded and friendly and we'll get along just fine!
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm excellent at discerning plot points, potential directions for a plot, and developing relationships between characters (both romantic and non). As I writer, I can write almost any genre, and therefore can give advice on all of it, but particularly, my skills like strongest in stories that have a very thick and powerful emotional presence. Like I said, I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, so I'm a stickler for proper spelling, sentence structure, and punctuation. When it comes to plots, I'm very open minded. You can literally approach me with almost anything and we can make something out of it. I'm also very good at keeping to a character's original personality, if I'm writing as a canon character from a given series. Once I've got a feel for their personality, I can do it.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As a writer, I'm still growing. Six years has seen a lot of growth, but I'm not perfect. Particularly, I'm not good at writing or betareading crossovers. I know that sounds like a weird weakness, but I've tried it. My brain just can't go through all the right processes to deal with those or come up with a plot that really makes those stick. Not saying it can't be done, but I just have difficulties with them.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
The Walking Dead, Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball, Darker than Black, Gintama, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and pretty much any other fictional series out there (save those listed below). When it comes to genres, I prefer to beta action, suspense, adventure, or romance stories (or, you know, some combination thereof). I prefer stories that are aimed towards the older audiences (16-21). As far as romance goes (because that seems to be a big topic around here), don't be afraid to approach me with anything; straight or non-straight (see below, though, because I DO have some restrictions when it comes to romance). I also have a preference for longer stories. At least 100k. Just my thing, though I won't turn you down if yours is short.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Fangirl/boy wish-fulfillment stories. If your intention is to find to insert yourself into [insert fictional universe here] and make [insert character name here] fall madly in love with your character, I'm not the beta for you. ANYTHING to do with the anime/manga One Piece. Sorry guys, just not my thing. When it comes to romance, anything that involves pedophilia, bestiality, S&M (sadism and masochism), vore, or incest is a big no-no for me. Anything else, I can handle, but not those. Just isn't my cup of tea.
