|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta reader, I do not like the typical run of the mill pregnancy stories or gender benders (but only under circumstance). I expect that if I am to offer my services, the writer be able to accept suggestion and constructive criticism. I absolutely despise anyone who is hateful or negative, and I only want to beta for someone who writes for themselves, not to please anyone else (although as I writer myself I completely understand the need to produce a piece of work that is widely accepted and praised). My main objective as being a beta is to help people better their writing skills I always enjoy trying something new. Don't be afraid to ask for my help of further advice on a storyline that you are having trouble following through with. Be warned, I have OCD when it comes to writing so There might be A LOT of advice given, but I have no grudges if you disregard some of my suggestions.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My writing strengths are fairly wide spread, although I haven’t posted many stories on Fan Fiction, I take it upon myself to write stories of every genre, whether that be romance or gore. If you ask me to beta a story that comes from a book series, movie or television series that I have not read, I would be more than happy to read the subject matter just so I can give an educated opinion on what you are writing.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My for my weaknesses, well, I am not very good with storylines that have too many facades or dramatics. I find it a little bit too far stretched to write about bipolar characters who always seem to be in a moral dilemma, or are constantly confused by other people. Also, I am fairly imfamous for my forgetfulness, so you may have to send me a few reminders every now and again.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I absolutely love really original stories; they get me really excited and eager to start editing, because it’s always important to love what you do, of course! Believe it or not, I absolutely adore reading fluff stories, and I like to think that I am fairly adequate at capturing a precious moment using the English language; it also gives me small butterflies in my stomach to see a long awaited couple get together. I find it a good laugh to read stories of people getting married in Vegas and having to deal with the repercussions. I tend to lean towards stories that are either very far from the official storyline, or stories that are very close to the official storyline. I have absolutely no troubles having to beta something that isn’t usually in my area of expertise, but I ask you to tell me before it comes up in the story. I am also completely okay with editing lemons and smutty stories, comes with the territory.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I have a slight aversion to gory of horror themed stories. I don't like having to read scenes of rape or domestic abuse, so you can imagine how editing it isn’t something I jump at. Storylines that drag on for far too long make me want to jump off a bridge, so if you know for certain that you are one of those writers, then run as fast as you can… away from me. Also, I cannot stand writers that for their summary write ‘sorry I’m not good at writing summaries’ I would rather that you keep it to yourself, to be perfectly honest. I also expect the writer to at least have a minimal understanding of punctuation, grammar and language, it ticks me off when every single word in the entire story starts with a capital letter, but you could probably understand my frustration at something so stupid. Yet another thing that I don't want is a story that needs so much editing, that it’s practically mine. That’s not much fun is it now?
