|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been in the fanfiction community for a fairly long time; about seven years now. I can confidently say that I've grown a lot as a writer (I'm still quite overwhelmed by the rough edges of my old writings, but I genuinely am rather proud of how far I've come). I am open to any ideas, and I will try my best to enhance your writing. When I read a fanfic, I tend to observe details with a critical eye. Detail helps build the story plot, and makes stories way more interesting. If you have a hard time with grammar and punctuation, I can help you out with that. I can assure you that I will remain professional throughout the entire process, although if you feel more comfortable with a more light-hearted atmosphere, I wouldn't mind. Please do understand that there will be days where I just can't be available. As I mentioned, I am still in school, and I have a plethora of tests and projects to complete. Also, I live in North America, so if we happen to have different time zones, please be patient. We need our sleep after all.
P.S. I know that the PM system on this website isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea. Some people prefer something along the lines of instant messaging for beta purposes, akin to how Skype works or whatever. I'm actually available on this messaging app called Discord-its safe and private, and your IP Address is impossible to trace (it's like a more private version of Skype). Anyway, if you would like to talk through Discord, then I'm up for it. PM first about it though ~
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty good with details; I love descriptive writing, and they make a story so~ much better. My grammar and punctuation is usually good, but if you've seen my older drafts before, then you'd know that I often pop into old fics and add/remove certain things again. (Revision is my best friend). I write oneshots fairly well, usually a minimum of 5000 words long. I indulge in realistic dialogue, and I like delving deeper into characters' personalities. If the original creator of so-and-so left particular aspects of the (work of fiction) in the dark, I gladly take advantage of it, and any plot holes available. I enjoy twisting fiction into the way that I want it to be, and it often produces works that I'm proud of. I don't mind constructive criticism. I have an open mind, and I really don't mind beta-reading for any type of fanfic, regardless of the pairing or the character that it is about.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
While I do take advantage of plot holes, I also make them myself, usually unknowingly. But, over the years, I have been getting better. I also find it difficult to edit really long fanfics. By "really long", I mean chaptered, around 15 000 words and over. I take a long time to edit and revise in general. Sometimes I lose spark in writing novel-length fanfics, and I just kind of leave it hanging. Writer's bloc is something that's been haunting me for years. But, I am genuinely trying to tackle novel-length fanfics. I'm currently tackling one right now :3
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer one-shots, or a series of one-shots. AUs are also my strong points, but it depends on what kind of AU. I wouldn't mind editing stories that I feel have a lot of potential to become great. Trust me, I've seen a lot of wasted opportunities before, and I'd be glad to fix them. The genres I like to work with the most are probably Romance, Family, Angst, and Hurt/Comfort.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Well, I don't support bestiality, or rape for the matter. I can't read a fanfic about rape without feeling remotely put-out. Other than that, everything is fine. I'm fairly adaptable.
