Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When betareading, the first thing I will do is check for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors. Second, I will go back and read the text closer to weed out grammar errors and sentences that just don't make any sense. If I'm familiar with the fandom, I'll revise details concerning the fandom. If the fandom is foreign to me, I will compare your details to facts I can find about the /br /br /

If you send me a story to read, I expect you to know what the heck you're talking about. Don't try writing a story for Divergent if you can't tell Amity from Dauntless. Especially since I personally may not know the series and am counting on you to make sure it's accurate. Also, please please PLEASE make sure you get names right! If you write a huge detailed paragraph about an OC and then put the wrong name in the description, you're going to lose me and, in turn, your readers, very quickly. So please make sure you know who you're talking about. Lastly, no apostrophe quotes! Quotes are two dashes, not one, and I believe my job as a beta reader encompasses more than changing hundreds of little apostrophes into quotation marks.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am pretty skilled in the field of punctuation. Figurative language of all sorts as well.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have a habit of inventing names and words, but have some difficulty recognizing them, so I may delete things that are supposed to be there. Also, I struggle sometimes with homophones, homonyms, homographs, and et cetera. Sometimes I use adjectives in a sense where they don't mean exactly what they usually do.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'd prefer it would be a fandom I'm familiar with, but I don't mind correcting something for an unfamiliar genre. Otherwise, I'm pretty much indifferent. I'm just happy to help in any way.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Anything with deep religious ties I would prefer to avoid. Also, anything that weaves in foreign languages as a main part of the story; for example, the large amounts of Portuguese in 'Speaker for the Dead' by Orson Scott Card. I'd prefer I was familiar with the series, but I'll betaread for any category you throw at me. Otherwise, bring it on!
