|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
So, I have never beta-read before, but after scrolling through the profiles in an attempt to find one for myself, I figured that the specific category that I read could use some beta-readers. I can often switch back and forth between being overly critical and not critical enough, but I'll try my best to be both polite and intensive when I beta-read. I'm not overly focused on grammar or plot editing. I'd say I'm averaged out between the two, so I can help with both, but it won't be as good as if you went to someone who was spectacular at one of them. If you'd like to know more about how I write, feel free to check out my newer fics(I'd recommend the one-shot series I have, seeing as it's much shorter).
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty critical(mentally, this doesn't always reflect when I'm actually reviewing) whenever I read, and I can spot a fair amount of grammar mistakes. If I really let myself go, I can be quite nit-picky(if you'd like me to be, just tell me). I'm also fairly good at developing the character outside of the actual story. For example, coming up with strengths, weaknesses, personality traits, and their reasons for being there. I'm very big on giving my characters flaws. I can also speak french(not perfectly, but conversationally), so I can help with any mistranslations *cough*Google Translate*cough*.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have a lot of trouble staying committed to something, so it is possible that I'll stray a bit and not do as good a job as I did before. It might also take a while as I balance a job, school, and a large multitude of other hobbies(not to mention writing my own fics). Like I stated above, I'm not perfect at either grammar or plot/character development, but I'm decent at giving advice with both. I'm not the best at nitpicking with small facts. Sometimes I can do research to help you include a cool reference, but I don't excel at fact-checking(not to say that I don't enjoy browsing through wikia for a while to find my information). However, if it's Doctor Who or Star Trek, I will gladly point you in the direction of a site full of transcripts if you need them to get the lines correct.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I exclusively read OC romance fics(I don't mean OC/OC, but rather OC-insert fics... not self-insert though). I would very much prefer to beta only M/F stories, but an argument could be made for F/F. I also prefer long fics, but I'm good with one-shots as well. I'm ok with beta-ing smut, but be warned that I will only be correcting grammar there and not accuracy as I am not the best at writing it myself. If you want a good list of which pairings(with OC's) I'll write, take a gander at my(rather extensive) favourites. It's pretty detailed. I'm good with swearing, so long as it isn't ridiculously overused(ie a swear per sentence would be too much. But if it's spread out naturally, that's good). If it's crucial for the storyline or the character that they swear excessively, that's ok. If it's just swearing to swear...
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
No M/M(I'm pretty gay myself, I just don't like reading M/M). Incest, rape, abuse, stockholm syndrome(I've actually read fics with this before), major character deaths; these are some of the things I refuse to read. Anything with two canon characters as a main ship(I deal purely with OC/actual character as the main ship in fics). Anything that isn't romance is also a no-go, I'm afraid. There has to be a couple in there, haha. If it's not included below, then I might not beta for it, but message me, because I might have overlooked whatever your fic is. Also, please, no AU's that deviate too much from the storyline(coffeeshop, all human, genderswap, etc...). If it's a Divergent fic, and say, the AU is no war, that's chill. One last thing. Please, no fic where "character falls asleep/dies/stumbles and wakes up in this universe!" as I despise them with a burning passion. Like I've stated before, message me, and hopefully I feel comfortable betaing it!
