|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello there and thank you for checking out my beta-profile. I'm rather open when it comes to what I will and won't proofread and I always try to pour as much effort into making your work look as good as I can manage. I will warn you though, I am not one to hold back on criticism if you ask for it. If you ask for my honest opinion, both in subjective and objective terms, then expect me to be just that; honest. If you write well, I'm going to praise you, and if your writing has problems, I will point them out try to give you advice on how to improve. I might come of as a harsh if I do find flaws in your story, so if you can't take it, don't ask for my opinion. I take all writing seriously and hold it all up to the same golden standard, regardless of who the writer of it is, and as such there is the chance of me going off on rants if problems arise. I write, read, and proofread stories every day, both for fun and to study to become a professional proofreader rather than just someone who does it for fun, as such I actually know what I'm talking about in most cases.
Due to the amount of time and effort I put into this "job", it is sadly not something I can do for free any longer. Outside of VERY select ideas or stories, I require payment for my services in some form. I do not have any set rates yet and as such I am more than willing to negotiate a price that works for us both.
Expect to get most text you send me back within three days, depending on the length. Any more and I'll notify you.
Thank you for your time.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Finding and correcting grammatical errors.
Finding moments of OOC behavior.
Finding pacing and flow issues.
Adding additional details and context.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
While I can find errors in other peoples text with ease, I suck at proofreading my own stuff. I contribute it to my brain knowing what it WANTS to be written and thus ignoring the mistakes I make from time to time.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Basically anything with my favorite pairings, listed on my profile, and I'm very open to AU scenarios. I don't mind crossovers, but I can't say I'm very fond of them either, except for a few, rare ones like How to train your Dragon and Frozen. As for fandoms in particular, I'm very familiar with RWBY, League of Legends, Warhammer, and Monster Hunter. I simply love romance, regardless of if it's simple smut or a large, well planned slowburn, so if you bring me stories featuring romance, I will be much more inclined to help you out.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
If you're willing to pay me for my work, I am happy to edit pretty much anything with the sole exception being stories that feature rape or just non-consensual sexual actions as a prominent "theme". If it's mentioned as part of the backstory for example, or just something said in passing, I can MAYBE let it slide, but I will never proofread smut, for example, in which any number of characters, regardless of gender, are raped, forced, or coerced. This is 100% non-negotiable. The following mention is merely a scenario I am not fond off, but it isn't a dealbreaker like rape is.
RWBY stories that take place after the fall of Beacon. I hate the direction the series has taken an I prefer to just pretend Cinder/Salem never pulled off anything. Don't mind using characters from volume 4 and beyond, but preferably I'd like the story to not follow the same path as the show.
