|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Greetings, I am Agent Sandra Cartrip! Welcome to my beta profile! I have been a Fanfiction member for five years now, and I have been writing since I was nine (I am 20 now). I have been wanting to be a beta reader for some time now, and I was able to finally convince myself I could do it! I am a very friendly beta reader, so don't worry if you feel your story is not perfect; that's what I'm here for! I am honest but encouraging. In other words, I shall not hesitate to point out your mistakes, but I shall also complement you on parts you write well. I also believe every writer has some potential, so even if your story is not of the best writing, I shall never talk down on it in any way. My advice shall always be given, but as the writer, you have the final say, and you have every right to say "no" to my edits and suggestions if you don't want to use them. The only thing I am asking of you is that you make sure your story is spell-checked and edited to the best of your ability before you send it. If you have any questions, do contact me; I am a very chatty person!
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I do a lot of character study and extensive reading on official sources and wikis for my fandoms, so I would say I have got a great working knowledge on the characters' personalities and interests and can easily tell right away if a character seems to OOC. I can also spot grammar errors and poor vocabulary and give tips and suggestions on how to improve them. I also look at the flow of a story and come up with solutions on how to make it flow better. My favourite genres are adventure and angst/hurt/comfort, which I write best, but I would say I'm pretty good with other genres as well.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not the best at perfecting my own work, so don't be surprised if my early works are not up to par with my latest ones; in other words, if it was written before 2015, it's probably not my best work. (I have to consult beta readers for my stories all the time). As for foreign languages used in stories, I have recently started taking courses on DuoLingo in multiple languages however I do use Google Translate most times, so unless you don't mind having possible poorly translated foreign-language words in your story, I cannot help you there.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I am easygoing and will pretty much beta read anything. I mostly prefer stories that centre in on the canon characters, although I do equally enjoy OC-centred stories. Some humanising for Cars stories is fine as long as it's well-written. Adventure is my favourite genre, but I also equally enjoy humour, mystery, drama, suspense, crime, hurt/comfort, friendship, family, angst, and some mild romance.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I SHALL NOT do slash/yaoi/yuri (I don't mind if it's relatively mild/platonic, however), mpreg, incest, pedophilia, gore, horror, tragedies, or explicit smut/lemon. I also shall not do pairings that violate established film canon (such as Finn/Holley or Lightning/OC) or character death. I don't mind profanity, but don't abuse it. I am not a fan of crack-fics (most times) or canon characters finding out they have long-lost children. No stories about canon characters turning traitor (unless you plan to turn them back in the end). For Cars fics, I am not a fan of "machine/human" stories, being a firm believer in Cars being their own species. I am also not a fan of long, dragging romance that contains too much fluff and very little plotline; I prefer romance mixed with other genres. That way there can be romantic fluff without overdoing it. I'm good with mild sexual themes, but nothing explicit. Lastly, also for Cars fics, I do not beta read stories where it is explicitly stated or shown that the Cars are manufactured. It honestly irks me. It just doesn't fit my idea of the Cars-verse, where cars, planes and other vehicles are born, and have blood, organs, ect. instead of interior. And last but not least, I shall NOT beta read Jackson/Cruz or PruHun stories. Sorry.
