|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm sixteen years old, a junior in high school. For both my freshman and sophomore years, I took Creative Writing I and II as electives, because writing's my passion. I hope to become an editor for a publishing company when I'm older. Obviously, this means I need to practice. Something to note if you're considering having me as a beta reader is that, again, I am sixteen years old. I am not an expert. Granted, I've taken all the Creative Writing my school offers, I was in the literary magazine at my school last year, I'm helping create the literary magazine this year, and I've been reading and writing fanfiction for a very long time, but I'm still rather young and inexperienced. I have a lot more learning and growing to do, both as a writer and an editor. When I beta read someone's work, it is important to keep in mind that I both look for mechanical errors *and* comment on characterization, plot, pacing, and so on. Unless you state otherwise, I will assume you want me to give feedback on everything I can. If you just want me to proof-read, please say so when you contact me.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've been reading a writing for a long time, so, of course, I have picked up some skills. If I have a deep understanding of the source material, I'm rather good at getting into the minds of characters and thinking about what they would do in various situations. Therefore, I can help with characterization. I have a strong grasp of syntax, diction, sentence structure, and so on. Most of my mechanical edits will most likely be me fixing your sentences. I have an eye for detail, so expect nit-picking.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As I've said before, I'm young and inexperienced. I also have a problem with procrastination, but that just carries over from every other aspect of my life. If I have a deadline, I can guarantee I'll do my job by that deadline. I can't guarantee I'll finish early, but I can guarantee I'll at least get it done. Otherwise, from what I can tell, I don't have particularly hindering weaknesses.
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
The categories I am familiar with: Homestuck, Hetalia, Problem Sleuth, Villainous, Steven Universe, The Legend of Zelda, Eddsworld, Gravity Falls, Creepypasta, Marble Hornets, Sanders Sides, and Fandomstuck/Fandombound. I might be willing to beta read other fandoms if I've seen/read/etc. enough of the source material to understand what's going on, but that is not incredibly likely.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I would rather not beta read fandoms not listed in my 'Preferred' section. Otherwise, I'll probably only object to beta reading something if it gets too graphic or NSFW for my taste. There isn't an official place where I draw the line regarding that; just know the line, like me, exists sometimes. Also, this next requirement may seem a little ridiculous, but, seriously, I can't even. I do not like to read USUK fanfiction. Please don't ask me to do so.
