|Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi! Call me Alex or Seb! As a both a beta reader and writer, I'm pretty thorough when it comes to editing stories in terms of grammar, spelling, and plot, among other things. So you can trust that I'll do a good job of looking over your story and making sure there aren't any mistakes! As for expectations: please, no rudeness of any kind. No racism, sexism, lgbt-phobia, anti-semitism, 9-11/Hiroshima Nagasaki bombing jokes, etc. Just be a decent person, basically. At least bother to be polite.
|My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, past and present tense, use of literary devices (eg, metaphors, similes, allusions, etc.), point of views (mostly third and second person). I can suggest changes/improvements to the story if you'd like, but otherwise I'll normally just check for grammar, spelling, story flow, etc.
|My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Slow burn stories, passive voice (i'm so guilty of using passive voice quite a bit lmao), adjectives (that is to say, when to use them and when not to)
|Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
My fandoms are Andi Mack, My Hero Academia, Disney, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Disney's Descendants, Ducktales (2017), Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood & manga), Batman (both lego and comics), Marvel, Megamind, Mystic Messenger, Pixar's Coco and Cars, The Property of Hate (a webcomic by Sarah Jolley!), Haikyuu!, Yuri! On Ice, Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, Harry Potter, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Bleach, Night at the Museum, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012 series and Michael Bay movies), Les Mis (2012), The Hunger Games, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and Check Please.
|Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Pretty much anything NSFW (eg, a lot of gore, sexual content, etc.). Anything with racist/sexist/lgbt-phobic/etc. characters/themes where it's treated as okay or normal; it's one thing when it's called out and dealt with and another thing entirely to not do that. Just...don't be that person who thinks fiction doesn't affect reality, because fiction can have such a big effect on people, especially with racial or lgbt representation. Also I won't do horror fanfics lol
