Friend of mine suggested that I become a beta-reader for two reasons:
1) I love to read and correct. I'm not saying I find every syntax and grammatical error out there, or that I know every single rule of the grammar book and their exceptions, but hey. I still love doing it.
2) It'll help me become aware of certain things I have to change in my own writing style, and hopefully in yours. We're constantly learning, and I believe this can help. Both ways. Positive feedback is always nice to hear, and hopefully, that's what you'll get from me.
Betareading style... Well, I'm not here to correct something that isn't taken seriously... That being said, I'm not saying I don't want to betaread any comedies, but if I feel like you're not into it, or that you're just writing for the sake of a ship you're supporting, regardless of plot, I'm not your beta-reader.
If your whole text in underlined in red and green in your MS Word page, try correcting it yourself a few times before sending it my way. In fact, it's always better to reread your text more than twice. If you find that boring or think it's a waste of time, who else would want to invest time in doing it? I'm not here to right click on every second word in need of correcting.
Opinion wise, I'll tell it like it is, from my side of the fence. Honesty is key. I don't pretend to have any professional writing skills, so if I find a mistake, I think it's safe to say other people will find it as well.
As of time it could take, it'll depend on my work load, at home and at work. Email works for me, but I can also help out via MSN. You can expect positive feedback and constructive criticism. Before sending anything my way, send me a msg describing your story, fandom, how long you want to plan it, and a brief plot summary.
