The spindle is at last destroyed. In what should've been a jubilant moment for Aurora, she is only left wondering. If the curse is what dictated that she would be beloved by all who met her, what did that say about the sincerity of her mother's love for her?

"Whether it was you or Stefan, it doesn't matter! If we don't do something, she's going to grow up thinking this is acceptable!" Diaval cried. It was chilling to see how much Aurora could resemble Maleficent and Stefan, and although Maleficent didn't say it out loud, she could agree that she never wanted to see this side of the child ever again. Luckily, Diaval has a plan...

Maleficent hissed in pain and buckled as she felt the sharp, hot, iron chains lash around her legs, but Stefan would not let go. Nor would Maleficent's mind, taking her back to over 16 years ago, the first time Stefan ever clung to her legs as she flew. Oh, how times had changed, and not for the better.

The only reason Maleficent was at the Moors' nursery was to take census of all of her new subjects born that season. She insisted that she didn't have a mother's heart, not a single maternal bone in her body, and Diaval was willing to concede to that. But maybe she had something else... No matter what she claimed, she was just as big of a softie as he, and they both knew it.

Aurora soared through the sky with Maleficent and Diaval hot on her tail. They may have been old pros, frequent fliers since before she was born, but Aurora was determined to beat them. She was so determined, in fact, that she didn't even think to question where her or Maleficent's wings had so suddenly come from...

There is evil in the world. Hatred, and revenge. In the absence of love, that hatred blooms. And curses don't just end. They're broken. After Aurora loses Maleficent, she loses herself, and the only way to find either piece of her heart again is to follow in her mother's footsteps. And thus, the generational curse, the generational trauma, persists.

He said, "Now hush love, here's your gown. There's the bed, lanterns down." But I don't want to go to sleep. In all my dreams, I drown.

With a BANG, Maleficent made a most dramatic entrance to Stefan's throne room. The only problem, how was she supposed to strike terror into the hearts of his royal court when his daughter was RIGHT THERE, looking up at her with such sweet, adoring eyes?

"Come along, my little hatchling, come along." The phoenix waved a large, smoke-black wing as she ushered the smaller, pudgier, uglier, little bird along. Her father hopped a few paces behind, his raven feathers also sleek and black. Today, they were going to learn how to hunt, build nests, and fly!

"It's Mother's Day!" Knotgrass crowed. "Of course we're allowed to be here! Now come on, come on, hurry up!" Thistlewit struggled to keep up as she helped her sister carry Flittle, still stuck in her potted plant form. Maleficent was already there, and one more mother was up and coming. It took a village to raise a kid, and Aurora certainly had one. Even death couldn't stop them.

"Can you see it, Stephan? Can you feel it too?" Maleficent's magic was certain that she and Stephan were destined for a long, lovely life together. But visions are seldom all they seem.

On the other side of Aurora, Diaval sank deeper into his seat and rubbed his temples. "Why couldn't I be the noble steed again?" "Because. Beastie needs to learn how to drive carriage. It's what she signed up for when she agreed to take on a life in the human kingdom."

Aurora was biologically human, but the sound she made when her mother died protecting her, died right in front of her, was inhuman. Even the most fearsome creature of the Moors would've shuddered at the noises and screams she made as she sobbed and fell to her knees. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, nothing left behind, save iron and rust…

As a blackbird (and proud of it) there was nothing Diaval loved more about himself than his wings, his power of flight, his freedom. No, there WAS one thing he loved more... Sharing that gift and joy of flight with others. To Aurora, the pretty blackbird sang, "Let me be your wings!" And to his Mistress, the black dragon implored, "Let me be your only love!"

To Aurora, it was obvious. One did not have to choose between the Moors and Ulstead. But for whatever reason, it was a concept many others struggled to grasp, being a child of both worlds. Oh well, their loss. Aurora would continue enjoying her mother-daughter relationship with Maleficent; a secret only they shared.

Toddler Aurora has wandered into the forest alone again. Good thing Daddy Diaval is there to keep her safe and happy! And don't worry, he'll get Mommy Maleficent to come around too. Because he knows them, and he knows what they'll do. They'll love each other at once just as they did once upon a dream...

Diaval was never meant to be noticed. It was safer that way. But what was he to do when a faerie woman comes along and captures every ounce of his attention? (A novelization of both films from Diaval's point of view. This includes scenes that were deleted or were never mentioned.)

Maleficent has been both guardian and protector to the Moors. One day she is betrayed by a human she once viewed as a friend and perhaps more. Afterward Maleficent cut the Moors off from the humans and her heart from love. Throughout all this Maleficent wasn't alone. In an attempt to find him, she leaves her safe haven and finds a passage to the Moren, a place which turns out to be less evil than people always told her. Despite all the beauty she's discovering, there are always eyes watching her and soon, she finds out that Maleficent isn't the only one being hunted.
