In which an assistant ponders his mad scientist

Dan and Herbert are testing a new reanimation experiment when their subject breaks free. Injured and discouraged, they have to find their monster and stop it before the police can find the suspected "criminal" roaming the streets and attacking innocent people. Rated T for gore and light swearing. Set post-Peru, but before Bride of the Reanimator. One-shot, complete.

This is a canon divergent story that takes place after the first Re-Animator movie, in place of the events of Bride of the Re-Animator. I originally uploaded it to wattpad and AO3 but figured I'd upload it here as well. Originally posted May 2020

Based on the deleted scene from the Re-Animator. What if Herbert wasn't the only one to be exposed to the effects of the reagent? Herbert is forced to take drastic measures to save Dan. Set post-Peru but before Bride of the Re-Animator. Rated T for general creepy nature and dark angst because I'm paranoid. Mentions of suicidal thoughts, near the end. One-shot, complete.

After him and his companion survived the failure of the Bride, and Dan is still somehow with him despite it all, Herbert West decides to try again with making a being out of reanimated parts, only it's a child this time. (Trigger Warning for Blood, Gore and Body Horror, ya know, the usual)

In which Dan wakes up feeling awful. He wonders if he's getting sick.

A few months after Beyond Reanimator Herbert west continues his experiments on his own. But he is starting to get lonely. Using his reagent and body parts he salvaged he creates a daughter . Will she be the same as the other reanimated or a success?

In which there have been significantly fewer failed experiments and quite a few successful ones.

In which Dan hears of Herbert's escape from prison and reacts the only way he can.

In which a cat is not dead.

He catches the look in Dan's eye. A kind of anger, and, beneath it, a pain that suddenly makes Herbert wonder if either his charred flesh or the screams of the cadavers can even be called pain at all. [Herbert x Dan]
