oh Merliiin... Wow. The part about his seeing his father was great. Wonderful character description. You really have him right there. But I must say you really are talented to make such a short story so good. It has everything of a drama. It's beautiful and exceptionally sad. The part about his destiny lying in the symbol of the serpent is the saddest of all, for us who know exactly what that destiny turns out to be. He's an 11 year old child here, and I can't help but like him, and depicted as he is, there is nothing left to do but feel sad for him... And I love the last sentence. That makes it a bit easier to stop liking him. And oh, the bitterness of it. You've got to love how bitter this is. Awesome.

Ooooh! This is good. Very, very good. A believably humanizing look at the boy who is not yet a monster. More, Please!

I particularly liked Tom's discovery of the powers of blood magic, and his wry observation that he didn't want the head of the orphanage to know that he could do magic because of what he'd be forced to do for him. And Tom's observation that Slytherin is a "proper House."

Tom's one fleeting glimpse of his family was poignant and frightening, too.

It sounds like you're keeping Riddle in character with what I think he was like. I'm always interested in these kind of fics. Personally I think fics where Tom always has a sadistic edge to him are more interesting than the ones where the authors try to make it "Not his fault he turned evil" or something like that. Great job so far. Continue please!
