I think Anne is thinking " When will he ask me and where? Will it be on a warm twilight? A walk on the shore? On the boat ride back home? At the bridge of the Lake of Shining Waters? If he even proposes." I hope you keep this up it is one of my favorite fanfics.

A beautiful chapter. The feelings of love (the new discovered yet so old and strong love) so well described and lucid. Such a wonderful and enchanting evening, I could it all see in my head. And it found its peak in this world-changing moment when his fingers marry hers. So bright and lovely.

gilbert blythe -the cat who got the cream- you are right, he deserved this after loving her so long. he reminds me of someone who thinks he might be dreaming and wants to make the most of it before he wakes up.
i could really feel anne walking the fine line between pride in her accomplishment and judgment of herself for hurting roy. thank goodness for gil really, he brings her out of herself and lightens up the whole chapter, you just can't help bursting out yay!
but it felt very anne too, she has the most loving heart - i always think of how she vowed to never cane her students, how she wanted to win their love rather than hang a heavy consequence over their heads (in AoA)
to try to open someone's heart to love is the eternal theme that runs thru the whole series; though of course what's so great about AoGG is that this ideal always collides with the grim, annoying, strange realities of real life -and here was another example.
poor darling, as phil would say. still i don't feel so sorry for anne really -she got gilbert blythe afterall!

Oh i love how even though she loves Gilbert she still cares greatly for Roy. And the horse and the snow queen was so heart wrenchingly sad but sweet.
