| Spidey-phd chapter 1 . 1/17/2019
Powerful. Moving. An interesting fic that provides a poignant glimpse into what the students and staff might have experienced while Voldermort was in control.

It's interesting to ponder upon how much influence Snape actually has.

props to those unsung heroes, harry and his crew would have died many times if not for her help

Truly enjoyed this. Poppy Pomfrey is a very amazing character when explored well. Thanks for writing this.

What an awesome story! Thank you for posting it.
I love stories like these. They are far too rare.
It reminds me a lot of Lady Altair's work about this particular time episode ('What Bravery' is as well as 'Cauterize')
I guess I will have to check out more of your work!
| Aviendha Aviendha Aviendha chapter 1 . 10/11/2016
Excellent oneshot. Madame Pomfrey never really received very much character development in the books, I feel.

| Last Girl Standing chapter 1 . 2/25/2014
I adored this! The characterization was all very lovely; although in the snippets we see of Ginny and Luna I do have some thoughts, but I suppose the seriousness is partially the situation and partially that we're seeing this through Poppy's point of view.
I adored Poppy's back story and her characterization; you managed to stay within the character points we do see and give them life - very nice!
| Ralinde chapter 1 . 2/25/2014
When I read your summary, I immediately got enthusiastic, because Poppy doesn't get enough fanfiction love and I think she's a really intriguing character.
I love your characterisation of her, how she always wanted to be a Healer at St. Mungo's but stayed at Hogwarts instead, how she stood up to Severus in order to protect her students etc.
It's also nice that she realises that the students need her, but she needs them as well. The mention of Remus was really great.
One point of critique: I would choose either first-name basis or last-name basis DA, not mix them (you refer to Neville as Neville and to Luna and Ginny as Ms Lovegood and Ms Weasley).
[A vision of herself harbouring as many students as she could in the hospital wing came to the forefront of her mind.] That sentence sums up her character so nicely, I loved it!
| Gamma Orionis chapter 1 . 2/24/2014
I love Poppy! She's an under-explored character in fanfiction, I think. I loved how you wrote her: stoic, protective, and wanting what's best for her patients, of course. I also liked that she was willing to stand up to Severus when he was endangering students, and that you referenced the character trait that she doesn't ask questions.
The way you tied Remus into her 'origin story' (for lack of a better term) was great too - that added a really interesting dimension to her character, especially the part about how she was afraid and unwilling at first.
| Lillielle chapter 1 . 2/23/2014
Aaah. I love things that deal with Poppy. XD I think it's also really interesting how you wrote Severus in this. If you know already that he's not really on Voldemort's side, his actions make so much more sense, but I love how protective Poppy is of all her students. I also love all Poppy's introspection on herself and what's happened in her life-it doesn't drag, but only enhances. :)

Huh, I really thought I had reviewed this. This is so interesting, I love how it's all about Poppy. She doesn't get enough love...ever, and it's always so fun to read about her. It was so interesting to see all the different characters interact, I love how they were all fairly minor. Great job. The writing was excellent as well- the flow of it.
| autumn midnights chapter 1 . 2/14/2014
I really like the backstory you've given Poppy - that she wanted to work at St. Mungo's but they wouldn't accept her because she was young and inexperienced. I really like that Dumbledore offered her a chance, as well - it fits with his characterization, the way he always gives people chances even when most others would never (Remus Lupin is a great example of that).
I really like your ending paragraphs, as well - about how although the students do need her, she needs them even more. It really does explain her motivation very well. I also like the little bit about her job not being discipline, about how she wouldn't really inquire into most of the students' injuries because it wasn't her place. I definitely feel like that explains her well.
Your characterization of her was excellent. I especially liked seeing the way she stood up to Snape, not wanting him to bother Amber - her sticking up for the students is wonderful. She's very protective of Amber here, and I really like the way you showed that. It was also really cool to see your interpretation of what happened during DH at Hogwarts, as that timeframe's always been interesting to me. I really like the way Snape has at least a little concern for Amber, wondering who tortured her - it's a great way to show that he may be an asshole, but he's not 100 percent evil. Great fic!
| enomix chapter 1 . 2/10/2014
I really enjoyed this; I haven't read many Hogwarts stories during DH, so this was interesting to read. One thing that kind of stuck out to me was the seeming familiarity between Neville and Poppy... I mean he's referred to as "Neville" whenever it's talking about him, while Luna and Ginny are "Miss Lovegood" and "Miss Weasley". I mean, it's nothing big but it felt kind of strange while reading it, because you were referring to her as Poppy not Mme Pomfrey so it felt as though there was some sort of personal connection between them.
Overall your exploration of Mme Pomfrey's failed career and why she has been at Hogwarts, as well as her not letting Snape see Amber and everything else was very realistic and successful. Honestly, this was a great story! :)

Wow. This was fantastic! I absolutely adored your characterization of Poppy, it was super realistic and relatable. I was intrigued to hear about how her feelings over Remus changes, as I've only ever read her as being completely understanding about it. The Snape parts were also very cool, because I was like, "Eeee! It's okay, he's not evil!" but at the same time, not wanting them to give in. The snippets of Ginny and Luna were nice too. And you ended very strongly.
