Reviews for The Tides Go Out
MegaFlameHedge chapter 72 . 3/5
All right! Finally getting off my butt and reviewing this. c:

Gotta say, this was a nice little epilogue, and I liked how it both wrapped things up and left many new lingering questions. In the aftermath of everything that happened, it's great to see the Radiant Garden crew determined to fix their home again. Likewise, Kairi's enthusiasm toward getting a Keyblade was extremely adorable, and I look forward to potential training shenanigans in the next fic. It was great seeing Tron again, and the fact that Data-Roxas misses Xion, while sad, gives me the impression that there will be follow up in the future.

It's exciting to see Ven again, but with Lingering Will wandering off, I wonder what'll happen to him. :c I can imagine why he'd leave, but something tells me Ven's stubbornness will lead to him trying to track down that hunk of armor.

Also, that scene with Maleficent's gang... consider my interest piqued, to say the least. I suspect something big will come of it, and I can't wait to see what it is. ovo Especially with nort outta the picture.

But man, even knowing that people would forget, it was still sad to see Lea lose his memories of Xion. But like you aid, the next fic is titled On the Way to a Smile for a reason!
MegaFlameHedge chapter 71 . 2/25
Super duper late, I am.

Anyway, this was... just as bittersweet as I expected, tbh. I figured Xion was going to release Ven's heart, but at the same time, a part of me was crying out that there'd be some other way. Sora's reaction when it finally set in was especially painful, as well as Xion's calm resignation when the moment finally came. The memory flashbacks were a lovely touch, bringing back memories from earlier in the series, and that scene with Roxas...

It gives me a small hope that she may yet return.

It was great to finally see Sora and Roxas meet, though given the nature of Xion's disappearance, it's even more painful. If Sora forgets... hoo boy, that'll be one heck of a doozy. Makes me wonder what'll happen with any entries in Jiminy's Journal.
Yimo chapter 72 . 2/21
Well, reading those last two chapters while listening to Stairway to Heaven fucked me up... and I thank you for that.
See you in the next one.
Undeadmonkey8 chapter 72 . 2/21
Ah! Lea! Not okay, you're not allowed to forget Xion again! That's NOT OKAY! Namine! Come back and restore Axel's memories, stat! We need a memory pod!

*sighs*

I was hoping for a happy chapter to counteract last chapter's sadness. There were a lot of wonderful moments - Ventus waking up on Destiny Islands, for instance. That was heartwarming to see them all reunited, as well as the Restoration Committee setting their goals to rebuild again. Excellent work.

This has been a properly wild ride. Some parts of the ride have been sad, a lot of moments through this have been wonderously enjoyable, and in some parts you mixed them - one that comes to mind is the dance that Xion and Sora had in the marsh. You brought levels of badass into Kingdom Hearts that the series has lost over the years, and you've really done great work on this story. I look forward to reading the rest of this series, and seeing just how topsy-turvy Xion can make her existence.

Sonikkemon chapter 72 . 2/20
Ahhhhhh! This fanfiction saga has to be one of my favorite KH ones, if not one of my favorite fanfics of all times. Your plots, the way you handle the characters, all the feels-it's all absolutely fantastic. I can't wait for Round 3. Keep up the great work!
Guest chapter 72 . 2/20
It's sad how you killed off Xion. I wish she, Roxas and Namine would come back. You are gonna bring them back in the next story, right?

Loved this so much.
FantasyCrest chapter 72 . 2/20
Congratulations on finishing this. I'll be honest after Remember the Tides I was expecting it to go longer but it does make sense to end it here. Bittersweet to be sure but still this is promising. I look forward On the Way to a Smile keep up the good work! :)
Undeadmonkey8 chapter 71 . 2/18
agh . . . I just HAD to play At Dusk I Will Think of You and Xion's theme . . . my heart.

Okay, I've given it a couple minutes, and I can respond. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO US? This would have been devastating anyway, but you paralleled it with Days and II, and agh I'm smiling and wanting to cry at the same time.

Restraining the waterworks for now. Normally this is where I say this was an amazing chapter, and that you did a great job and whatnot . . . but I can't. Just the way that you tied everything together and how Xion went out, and Roxas' conversations, and ARGH. Congratulations, you've officially made me as sad as 358/2 days did.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and get some tissues.

Undeadmonkey8 chapter 70 . 2/15
le gasp! So much foreboding! I'm half worried that Xion is going to do something that she may or may not exist to regret, and half hoping that she's thinking of using Kingdom Hearts to bring a certain friend back.

As for the battle? That was pretty epic. It seemed a bit like Xehanort was getting kicked around more than he was kicking them around. Sure, it showed off that he was tougher than hell, but it felt like he was going easy on them. Admittedly, he had a reason to do so, considering what he was fighting with, but it doesn't seem in character to go easy on the two of them, regardless of what weapon he has.

Excellent, Excellent work, though. The battle itself was fast paced and energized - I had some trouble keeping up with what was going on, which made it feel like a true battle. The final blow felt a bit like Gurren Lagaan, which I admit was a nice touch if done on purpose and a nice accident if not. Along with what was - as TV Tropes would say - Scenery Porn with the initial description of their final battle's location, this made for an epic final clash.

Great work, and I can't wait to see what is coming!

MegaFlameHedge chapter 70 . 2/15
What an intense fight! I greatly enjoyed the emotional buildup, especially the way Sora was so angry he grew COLD for a while. It's not a side of him shown that often, but the fact that Xehanort was able to push him so far made for an effective scene, especially when Xion got back on her feet. And boy was I relieved when she did- I didn't expect it, but it was a joy to see those two fighting side by side in this final clash. They've grown so close over these two fics, so it was effective from a storytelling standpoint.

The setting for the fight was a great touch, too. It really put into perspective just how many worlds were at stake. The little bit of Xehanort's backstory added some complexity to him, even if he was still ultimately a villain, and when Sora and Xion whipped out eternal session, that made for an exciting finishing attack.

However, that last sentence... needless to say, I fully expect something bittersweet, as I have for quite some time. Can't wait to see what comes next!
FantasyCrest chapter 70 . 2/14
A brilliant chapter. I applaud the twice-done Legend of Zelda series references though I question the Birth by Sleep scene rehashes somewhat. But still I can't wait to see more. :)
KadoyaOkami chapter 70 . 2/14
Oh boy. Sure, Xehanort's gone, but I'm getting the feeling Terra's main body is too! And Xion's last thought there seemed pretty ominous, too!

Man, this is gonna be a bittersweet thing to swallow, isn't it?
goddragonking chapter 70 . 2/14

MegaFlameHedge chapter 69 . 1/24
I should have seen this coming, but I did not. Wow, that was intense. o_o

Seriously, what a chapter! Lingering Will rushing in to attack Xehanort was a pleasant surprise. Vanitas forcing Xion to her breaking point and the epic clash that followed... Brilliant. I loved the imagery with the serpent Unversed, them carving into each other, everything was so brutal and gritty, yet it captured their emotions expertly.

I'm quite excited to see what comes next. Will the others have to face a possessed Xion? Will Ven's heart once again end up damaged as a result of Vanitas' defeat? It's one heck of a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for more!
