Reviews for The Disintegration Mechanism |

![]() ![]() ![]() This is a very clever and unsettling piece. While I love the dark ending and wouldnt change it (epecifically referring to Itachi's suicide), a small part of me wishes Sasuke feelings are reciprocal. That would make this even more twisted and dark because Sasuke would be basically torturing himself in the process of killing his own brother. And of course Sasuke would feel like he deserves the suffering. Thank you so much for this wonderful read! |
![]() ![]() ![]() at this point, I have read it 3 to 4 times. this is such an amazing read. it is a very simple plot and yet simple plot it is not. it escalates very smoothly into this almost horrific-beauty, I love it. the cherry on top has to be the second person perspective. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is absolutely a piece of work and I honestly am living for it this fic can choke me between its thighs, tie me up naked and make me lick its boots and I would honestly thank it. Thank you so much author for creating this masterpiece that reawakened my writing ideas! |
![]() ![]() ![]() LORD MERCY... how to review this? I'll keep it simple and say that there were more than a few times where my mouth fell open just a bit... I love the game Sasuke plays with Itachi here, horrific and cruel as it is; I guess it shows how purely traumatized Sasuke is, to know the truth and right this world's wrongs (somewhat) and still need, deep in his heart and soul, to exact his vengeance. Itachi is innocent here, but just barely, because he's still CAPABLE of everything he did the first time around, and maybe that's what Sasuke can't forgive, the loss of Itachi TRULY being as unflinchingly kind and gentle as he's shown to be here, the loss of that image of the all-good brother and his pure heart. And perhaps that's why Sasuke is so good at noticing the tiniest shifts in Itachi's eyes as he struggles with his "urges"; because Sasuke knows what Itachi is "capable of", and no one else really does except for this specific version of Sasuke because of all he's been through. In theory, Sasuke COULD have changed his mind and chosen to stay in this reality with this Itachi, but maybe those little flashes of lust in Itachi's eyes remind Sasuke that there's so much darkness simmering underneath the surface... so much to speculate on and twist around in my mind! Twisty indeed. I loved the ambiguity near the end about how "far" Itachi went on that final night, but whatever he did was enough to push him to the edge, and that's tragic for the reader (who knows the full context of... everything) but still deeply vindicating for Sasuke here... and I guess he needed that. Still, I wonder if he'll be able to content himself with staying where he is; he's had his revenge, but the ambiguity about the "rules" of the jutsu he uses to return in the first place leave SO MUCH open and I can't help but wonder if he'll do it again. Maybe he wants to live out his life in peace, now that he's killed Itachi twice, but maybe he's addicted to the game of it now... Weeks pass and an empty feeling sets in—not quite because Itachi is gone, but because Sasuke doesn't know how to make a new path for himself, a new raison d'être—Itachi was his everything and he can't help but continue to obsess. All that to say: I really enjoyed reading this; thank you for sharing it, and I will be back to read again someday. |
![]() ![]() This is so twisted and so well written. I love itachi-sasuke stories. They bring something entirely different to the plot. Itachi being the kind one and Sasuke being sinister and both of them loving each other either brotherly or otherwise. I would prefer angst over fluff any day. Thanks for writing. |
![]() ![]() Sasuke: Fuck Itachi but also fuck Itachi |
![]() ![]() ![]() boy what the hell boy |
![]() ![]() This nigga Sasuke a menace to the leaf village bruh |
![]() ![]() ![]() So. I adore this. It's wonderfully dark and twisted, and the way Sasuke manipulates Itachi? Absolute perfection! The ending was so tough, I was holding out hope that Sasuke would just keep torturing Itachi for eternity. *shakes head and wipes tear away, whispers "it had to be done" to self* As for the second-person perspective, it threw me off in the beginning because it's not common in most stories, but it was interesting. Your portrayals of Sasuke and Itachi were great as well. Sasuke's motives were explained/explored and I loved how his plan was carried out. Itachi's final response in the form of suicide to his... reaction to his brother makes sense and seems to fit with his protective character who can be quite intense in his single-mindedness and dramatic/extreme in his handling of situations. In conclusion, "The Disintegration Mechanism" is a gem and your writing had me speechless. This fic is a rereader. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is my 4th or 5th read through and its still a stunning fic! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ohmygod. This is so twisted and wrong and...freaking amazing? This is a masterpiece. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is freaking amazing and unique but also creepy but fun to read. Would read again. Really recommend. |
![]() ![]() why did that make me cry lol. this is really good thank you for writing it even though it's been five years (excuse my lack of punctuation it is for the aesthetic) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Just extraordinary. So smooth. Not only your use of second person, but the present tense. This fic sucked me into Sasuke's POV so immediately and thoroughly I couldn't stop reading until I finished, even though I wasn't planning on actually *reading* anything just yet tonight, haha. I really appreciate that you didn't offer any explanation for how Sasuke managed to get himself into the past. We didn't need it, and it would have been an unwelcome distraction from all the glorious *immediacy* that makes this fic so immersive. This is my favorite kind of ItaSaku. The darkest kind, haha. I'm such a sucker for dysfunction, however, that I confess I'm a little disappointed that the subtle suggestion that Sasuke's pleasure in his revenge might be more intense than appropriate wasn't explored a little further. I was wondering if we'd end up with some seriously fucked-up reciprocity. I could see this Sasuke, despite his competence, getting into his revenge too deeply, and winding up sexually tourturing himself by mistake even as he tourtures his brother on purpose... My grim imaginings aside, this fic was just lovely and horrifying. Thank you so much for writing! |
![]() ![]() wow, you did such a good job on this fic- their relationships is so twisted, and every sentence had my attention. you have a gift for writing. |
