|Reviews for Giving up|
| simon3142 chapter 8 . 2/19
As an overall review I will say I cried openly in three parts of this. If you couldn't tell from the stats you are an amazing author and you have shown the ultimate skill of an author, the ability control readers emotions. This is the first of your works I have read and I anticipate reading and falling in love with many more.
| AnneScriblerianAO3 chapter 6 . 1/23
As someone who struggles with suicidal ideation, I cried most over Amos here. The only thing that holds most of us here is the thought of others’ suffering. Honestly, Hermione and Ron and Minerva’s reactions don’t bother me. What do they know? But Amos knows. People like him are the anchor to this world that people like me need.
| Cerasifera chapter 7 . 12/29/2019
That should have been Remus instead of Severus as Godfather - vowing to protect Harry Potter when Voldemort has to believe you're loyal to him is... not wise. Might get him killed.
Also, it's Dolores, with two Os.
| Cerasifera chapter 6 . 12/29/2019
James and Lily were very young when they had Harry - how likely is it that Amos and his wife were also only 20 when they had Cedric? Why not make him a few years younger than Arthur, then comment he looks much older than Arthur now? That makes him about 25 when Cedric was born.
Sorry to be whining about such details, but hey, that means your story is good or I'd find bigger stuff to whine about ;-)
| Cerasifera chapter 5 . 12/29/2019
Sirius turned 22 the next month - does that count as 'barely twenty'?
Given how young 36 is for a wizard, certainly from the perspective of a woman in her seventies, it's not immediately clear which young man starts crying silently, certainly bc everyone was looking at Severus and he was talking about Lily, and he too would have been a child who had to learn to cry silently.
| Cerasifera chapter 3 . 12/28/2019
Die or kill / kill or be killed, surely
| Cerasifera chapter 2 . 12/28/2019
Ah, this Severus is better.
| Cerasifera chapter 1 . 12/28/2019
I like the style, but this is OOC for Snape. This is the man who kept Harry on his broomstick, who didn't hesitate to run to the Shrieking Shack believing his students were in danger from a werewolf and a mass murderer - the very same people who almost got him killed at the very same place - who came to find Harry twice when he failed to arrive at school at the beginning of the schoolyear and who throughout the series is almost always there asap whenever there's danger to students. Git or not, he would always run first and doubt later, lashing out in relieved anger if there's no emergency after all.

Sorry, was a little lazy to log in... but I must say I loved your story! I had kind of hoped that Snape would be Harry's guardian, but with the way you played your story, Amos did make sense. I read a few of your stories and noticed that you like writing from McGonagall's POV. However, may I make a request? I would LOVE to hear Snape's POV on the events of this story. But only if you would like the idea and be inspired by it. There was something that just strikes the heart when Snape said "You were not the one pounding on a 16 year old's chest begging him to breathe!" (chap.3). That one line conveys so much emotions! Especially since he initially didn't take Harry's suicide attempt seriously and then doing a complete 180 when he saw Harry in the Room of Requirement. Thank you again for a wonderful heartfelt story!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this story, when I first read the summary, and almost didn't read it due to my own struggles with dealing with the overall subject matter. However, I'm glad I did. This was beautifully written, and touched home several times. You certainly have a way with words, and I hope other give it chance as well. It might even help them, if they have need of it.

I loved this story so so so much! It reduced me to tears, and it made me laugh, and feel proud too. Just... Thank you for this story. It is, and always will be, truly perfect
