I loved this. I almost didnt read it due to the commenta about sexism and bashing. Im so glad i did. I found so many parts of this uplifting. Severus and hermione were both victims and didnt let trauma break them. Which is very realistic to cannon hermiones ferocity and severus’ devotion despite his past traumas.

This is probs unpopular opinion but …. What i dont get is the comments about sexism and bashing the marriage/domestic stuff. I realize many of the readers of this fan fic are young, but I was a child when this series broke through and the traditional ghastly suffocating stigma around unwed mothers reigned in america back then. Especially in regions such as midwest and the south. The author states repeatedly the wizarding world was more strict than the muggle world although both were not accepting. This ff illuminates how far we have come in those types of beliefs as they do not reign as heavily now. I think it is a very good look into what us “older”readers and fans have grown through. Hermione made her views on marriage and being agaisnt the stigma perfectly clear. Yes she chose severus due to the circumstances ultimately for her child , but this story still brought about progressive views emerging from a powerful respected and revered female character. It presents the idea of alternative thought. It gave the audience a chance to experience struggles ina tangible way from more than just a bland retelling or voicing opinions that have not been personally experiences by many due to being older. That is something the younger generation of today presses against (as an AFAB that identifies as she her im 100% thrilled about our progress) but i like that this shows an extremely unpleasant burden and key element of history that isnt quite tangible. Im not trying to get political but warriors against racism , sexism , lgbt right that advocate for inclusion and equality will have a bigger fire in their heart when they can immerse and empathize and thats what i want for our future. So… thats one of many reasons this is an excellent work.

I know some are harping about some inconsistencies when compared to canon, like Ginny's full name and Snape's lineage. But guys, please check out the YEAR this fic was completed by the author.

Anyways, I'm rereading this again for the nth time. The writing is *chef's kiss*.

Such a wonderful story I stayed up all night reading it ️ my only complaint is that we never got to find out how the first meeting with Severus's mum went.

I've never been to the Lake District either... but we've booked a holiday home for 2 weeks there this summer. I love in London and have been everywhere else in England and Wales but never the Lake district or Scotland. so very very excited to explore and go on hols everyday with hubby and kids. beautiful story BTW:D

Absolutely amazing story and beautiful written! I can't believe the horrible beginning events turned out to be such a beautiful love story. I will absolutely be reading this one again. Like others mentioned you didn't romanticize the traumatic bits and everything made sense to how it turned out. One small thing to point out- snape was also a victim of r*pe considering he didn't consent either. Anyway I loved seeing how they worked through it together.
