I CANNOT BELIEVE you were a vm newbie when you wrote this. Your character voices are so perfect, it's delightful.

Actually, the second chapter reads much as it did the first time around. The Madison scene makes a whole heap more sense, obviously; I loved the way you gave her a verbal slap in the face while simultaneously Veronica and Logna realised just how meaningless (on every level) it had been.

So, when can we expect some more VM from Lorien? I have questions ... so many questions ;)

Look who's back for a second helping of 'Joy'. As you know, like Veronica and Logan, I have done this the wrong way round. So what do I think now that I have binged on VM?

Well it's a lot like coming back to a book after seeing a big screen adaptation. Some of the characters have been replaced by their on-screen counterparts (Mac, Wallace, Eli – they weren't prominent enough in your story for me to form a picture of them) but others (Veronica, Logan, Keith) have become weird conflations of Lorien and canon.

Knowing the backstory hasn't really changed my appreciation of the story (and that, I think, is a credit to your writing), but it has anchored everything in its setting a little more. There were also a few things I breezed past first time that make so much more sense now – Veronica lapsing into Southern Belle for one. You have no idea how much of a kick I got out of that.

Anyway, I'll re-read the second chapter when I get home later.
