![]() ![]() ![]() I love your characterizations! Two is my sibling's favorite Classic Doctor and Six is my favorite Doctor, so we frequently come to this episode as a compromise. And this does such a good job expanding on it! It's been a few years since this has been updated, but I'm still very fond of this story. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I remember reading this doc years ago when I first got very into classic who, and as I've been getting back into it again now I rewatched this episode. I immediately just had to find and reread this fic because it so wonderfully adds more depth and emotion to the story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hi. Though I haven't reviewed anything of yours before, I thought I should say that recently I've read almost all of your stories, and enjoy them. I already liked Two and Jamie, but even though I haven't seen any Six yet, you've made me a fan, at least of your version of him. He's so afraid of himself, and so anxious to take care of Peri, both to make up for attacking her, and for her own sake. And he's so insecure about his own worth and standing in other people's eyes. Yet he is, still, unmistakably the Doctor to us, if not to himself. I think this is my favorite of your stories. As someone who hasn't watched The Two Doctors (though I have read the transcript), I can honestly say that often, I can't tell where the filmed story ends and your writing begins. Also, your scene in Jamie's room, with him and the Sixth Doctor, is one that absolutely SHOULD have happened on the show. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, my. I want to hug everyone. Welll...almost everyone. I am seriously hoping 2 and 6 come to peace with each other, because it is just heartbreaking that 2 is so ready to believe the darkness inside his future self is all his own fault. I am really really hoping 6 gets that sorted out! It feels right and natural that 2 feels protective of his newer selves-there's no reason to believe one's older self is less wise or less educated-they merely have a different perspective and a different personality. And it doesn't change who they are. Taking a deep breath now... |
![]() ![]() ![]() very scary never seen Peri so frail |
![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah, this is allllll getting nasty. I remember when this aired in my area-they edited out the scene where the driver was killed! So I didn't even know. Great job fleshing out the lines between the lines here. It's like getting a full-length novel! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like how you added original material into a canon story that manages to flow with the story |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great stuff! I love this as an auxillary re-telling of THE TWO DOCTORS. It works beautifully with the novelisation and the televised version! |
![]() ![]() ![]() looking forward to the fight |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ayyy still loving this |
![]() ![]() ![]() All right! A great way to start my morning! I'm loving every bit of this and its working beautifully with my re-reading of the online novelisation! I just read this scene last night-you do a great job of making it richer! |
![]() ![]() ![]() he needs time to grieve |
![]() ![]() ![]() My heart... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, my. This was heart-wrenching. And believable. Two was one of the deadliest Doctors, but that didn't mean he liked killing. He was aware that the price to pay for those feelings was far too high. He didn't even like fighting to defend himself, and it took regenerating into Three to grow out of that personal barrier in his brain. He really didn't seem to trust himself in combat unless he was completely cold and calm, like The Seeds of Death. The Two Doctors always impressed me because of how Two faced the death of his torturers with regret at the pointless waste of it all. That said, I do NOT blame Six for killing Shockeye. I think the audience forgot that this was a very dangerous alien, a monster who could rip he and Jamie apart with his bare hands-and his approaching Two with the Androgum genes in him was quite the act of bravery! You've got everyone in character so much. This is fantastic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, Peri is awesome. SO much to love about this chapter. It's really all so fantastic. The intricate nature of the relationship between Jamie and Two that carried on through the lifetimes (and I'm still holding out hope that some day all those CIA memories return to the Doctor...). Jamie was a wonderful character on the show and Frazer Hines pulled off that best friend/son/brother closeness really well. Likewise Patrick Troughton. Hines once said theirs was a rare friendship; they knew what the other was thinking, which led to a lot of their getting in trouble or just being trouble on the set! But all of this shows how the Doctor is capable of friendship in unusual ways-and some humans are just good at pulling it out. Peri's ability to see what's going on just illuminates everything, and I like that she has a brain! We always knew she had one! This is a refreshing change of pace for her fandom development! |
