a good read. thank you

Another angsty piece with a happy ending, just the way I love them!
No actual mistakes in this one, but I have a couple of... suggestions? Guess you could call them that.
1. Ilya says to Napoleon "Izvinite" (sorry), but they are close friends and I suppose he could use a less formal form "Izvivi" or "Prosti" (first is a form of the verb you used, but the second would look more natural).
2. The last toast is all good if you meant it as "I enjoy, my friend". The best translation would probably be "I like it, my friend".
If you actually meant imperative, this should look like "Naslazhdays'a, moy drug". Whoa, that looks scary transcribed...

*shudders and winces in sympathy*

VERY well written - or maybe I'm just attuned to the character... I read through it and my muscles are aching. My dad used to have us kneel on the ground as a punishment when we were younger, so I do have a vague idea as to what he went through here.

Granted, I wasn't on a pressure-sensitive detonator for a bomb and my duration wasn't nearly as long, but still...

And, even though I've read it before, the ending where they BARELY survive still had me hooked.

Well done, and thanks for posting this!

Loved this one! Your writing is clear, enjoyable and captures the world of UNCLE to a tee. Hard to imagine the strain of kneeling on a metal plate for hours. I can sympathize though, having injured my back about 13 years ago, the pain when I sometimes wake after a night's sleep, is bad enough to prevent movement for awhile. It was kind of Napoleon to treat him to something nice to take his mind off nearly being blown up and all.

I don't know how I missed this when you posted it. Poor Illya! I can't imagine how he was able to hold still for so long.

Good story!
