I always imagined what this scene would have been like in if Matthew had lived.
I think Julian Fellows failed Dan Stevens, not the other way around like most fans. If he had given something challenging for Matthew's character I think Dan would have stayed a bit longer? Who knows. But this was wonderful!

Oh! So cute! How did I miss this story when the M/M AU Fest happened? :) I love all the moments: with Matthew there, they're so much better, and I loved the final scene with the exhausted parents and the wide-awake toddler. I love how they both demonstrate an intimate, fun, fond knowledge of each other. I could easily see this being how the scene would have happened! Thank you. :)

Absolute loved this rewrite from season 4. Matthew and Mary are just wonderful together. You captured them so well, especially the "specialness" of this couple that draws us readers to them. Loved the ending with them going to the nursery to see George and nanny finding them asleep the next morning. Great family moments!

Any S4 rewrite with Matthew in it will get my attention, and I was expecting something fun and maybe some flirting, but you just about killed me with that last scene, the imagine of George happily watching hi parents while they sleep just as they do with him too precious for words.

Ah, dear Matthew you are missed.

Loved this! These are the kind of moments Mary and Matthew should have had together. Well done on capturing their banter with each other as well as their ability to be tender with each other. Love it. And if you ever feel like writing something else like this I wouldn't mind it. ;-)
