Mary Sue Lover chapter 27 . 10/27/2016 Hmm... I suppose that there may be little point in me reviewing this chapter, considering how many chapters after this one have already been published, but... eh. **shrug** ~ Amazing story so far. Just in general. I see you haven't lost your touch (or your preoccupation with describing house plans) since I last read your Wishing Door/Wizard's World series. I've lost too much sleep because I couldn't stop reading after finding this story. I became addicted to Gamer stories a few months back, so this is right up my current alley. ~ Good to see Harry finally start to make some progress, despite my next bullet points. - While the plot demanded that Harry would inevitably be forced to see that MaM was reality, I honestly don't think it was done very well in this chapter. Harry hasn't been in denial, after all, so his denial cannot be broken in the conventional sense. Hermione's theories, arguments, and observations are all very one-note in a way that Harry's logical (incorrect, but still LOGICAL) outlook should not have accepted. Every time he made a counter argument, Hermione's answer was the same. WHAT is this? Answer:magic. HOW is this? Answer: magic. WHY is this? Answer: magic. Just about the only thing she said that WASN'T consistently simplistic to the point of being dogmatic, was when she forced Harry to question more thoroughly WHY his aunt and uncle made those rules. - Honestly, I think the decision to have James's magic change Hermione's magic to be like his was less than ideal. Thematically: because it detracts from his significance; this may be one of the most creative and unconventional versions of the Gamer premise I've yet seen ((Kudos, by the way.)), but it still falls into that category. Magically: because JAMES's altered magic is the result of having his soul pulled out of his body, develop within a PURELY digital environment for 2 YEARS, bond more closely to his magic than the average person's soul would, him being constantly pushed to his physical/mental/emotional/spiritual limits, and feeding off of his own conviction that that was simply how his life worked; Hermione had none of that, plus the additional complication of having her own unique magical signature (which, if it is at all like blood, would either reject or react badly to mixing), as well as being a girl (seeing as you've brought things like star positions into the workings of certain magics, it seems likely that one's sex is magically significant, making James and Hermione even MORE magically incompatible). Logically: because despite what you've mentioned about James still being a child, he is smart and logical-minded; he cannot reasonably believe the "NPC" Hermione "became" a Player (because that just plain makes no sense), nor can be believe that his changing perspective caused his perception of her to change so that the game acknowledged her as a Player (as that would require him admitting that his mind is controlling the Game interface, and not the other way around); simply put, logic pretty much demands an all or nothing deal; either she's still labeled an NPC until he FULLY believes/realizes that MaM is reality, or all humans(/sapient beings) become Players at the same time that he comes to believe that SHE is a Player. Wishing you the best in all of your present and future creative endeavors, Mary Sue Lover |
dull chapter 19 . 10/24/2016 I tried I really did but this story is going downhill these past chapters. I enjoyed Harry in Aincard going from a small meek child, to a slighty introverted yet confident boy. Ever since you dragged him to Hogwarts nothing has changed at all besides his random mood swings he goes from being Mr. Tough Guy, to a weepy crybaby over even the simplest things. Give him a dungeon and monsters and he's juiced, but bring up his father and friends and he's all its all my fault . Yea he's not exactly mentally stable but everytime something that is brought up that deals with that you constantly, constantly remind us so much that it is sickening. Yes he misses his family why do you keep having him brood about it first time is fine, sixth is going to far. Every year he's been in Hogwarts is almost exactly like canon. He's still a Gryffindor, still acquainted with the Weasleys, Hermione, Neville, Sirius,Hagrid, and fucking Dobby. He's a seeker, has Hedwig only she's not an owl, and the only snowy owl he owns is named "Brat" wow. He fought Quirellmort and nearly died, fought a basilisk saved Ginny, and nearly died hell Hedwig did what Fawkes did by removing the basilisk's eyes. He fainted from dementors, he fainted again from dementors playing Quiddetch. This is so boring and monotonous that I don't even have to guess whats going to happen for his next four years. Great idea poor execution seems like a regular HP fanfic with SAO elements. The only drama is between Dumbledore trying to force him do something he doesn't want to, and trying to help him seperate fiction from reality and failing miserably at that. |
XxXNightcoreQueenXxX chapter 44 . 10/24/2016 this is truly an amazing story, thanks for sharing it with us. :D 3 |
salsas100 chapter 40 . 10/18/2016 Great story. |
Guest chapter 27 . 10/17/2016 What happen to the sorcerers stone you did not mentioned it after he acquired it |
Maleon chapter 44 . 10/8/2016 This os definitely amongst the best fanfics I've ever read. Tbh I'm kinda glad the main SAO follow up is done, because with the mexhanics you have in place I can't really see any way of hin being able to log on again without getting stuck (a copy of SAO programming still lacking a logout feature). Perhaps a spell derivated from the Killing Curse to force his soul back from the server? He is obviously a baby soul mage after all. I can't wait to read more! |

fightingstoryaddiction chapter 11 . 10/4/2016 Sigh I like this story this chapter was great but I was rooting for Hufflepuff raveclaw Slytherin and or Hogwarts house for the combination of all four I'm just not a griff person cause the way the house treated harry in the book and movies funny I believe sly an huff share the whole unit we stand kind of house loyalty while rav an Griff don't hide that they aren't loyal or all staying together hmm... Its me thinking that way cause to me the house come off that way to me... |
fightingstoryaddiction chapter 10 . 10/4/2016 Would have be shocking for the proffessor if when harry added her to his party that she sees the status bars appear above both their heads which harry would tell her her level vs his level which is a neat trick to keep track of your health if cursed or to know when to stop casting spells! |
fightingstoryaddiction chapter 5 . 10/4/2016 Poor harry I hope he'll be more happyer soon is in a game world and now is immortal though I do wonder will he be able to once the game is over move to other online games after swords online game!? |
fightingstoryaddiction chapter 4 . 10/4/2016 I'm so hooked on this I know I'm just got done with CH 4 but I'm already dredging when I reach the last chapter 40 I'll pretty much cry nooooooo... Because this story crossover is awesomely good! :-) :-) :-) |
Guest chapter 25 . 10/2/2016 *Shakes head* 'Look dear. Our daughter received a letter from Japan.' 'That's nice, shall I put it in her room so she can read it when she comes home instead of sending to her now?' 'Sounds fine dear.' ... ... Then again, overworked didn't read the return adress. Although the amount of post stamps should clue them in... |
Guest chapter 10 . 10/1/2016 If they had only shown the outside world. The question: "How can we prove this is real?" And the sentence: "We can take you to just about any location in an instant, some locations might require a little travel on foot." Would probably have convinced Harry eventually. Giving him access to a computer so he can look up SAO and then going to Japan would have solved everything. Stupid wizards. Thank you for writing this. |
