Soniclore chapter 7 . 12/28/2017
Jesus Christ Rockem Sockem Robots. That’s a bit ...much... and it’s nice to know the core values of the UFP are nonexistent. But who needs values when you’ve got Ira Graves’s all over the galaxy with guns powerful enough to blow a hole in the Moon’s Ass.
Guest chapter 1 . 9/12/2017
Genius! Hilarious! You should add Humor as genre!
Bryon chapter 1 . 1/31/2017
I like the hard science, and the hard-core Humans-this is about time!
misteryman526 chapter 3 . 5/22/2016
Very funny, and you've certainly pointed out a lot of the problems regarding how star trek technology is described vs. how it actually seems to work in practice. I'm surprised you didn't go into more detail about the transporters, or as I think of them, the Mass Suicide devices. If you've got perfect mass/energy conversion, and scanners capable of enough detail that you can perfectly replicate something, then surely you should be able to use a 'transporter' to create a duplicate of someone at the destination WITHOUT 'deconstructing' (or killing as I consider it) the original. Plus, they should be able to record everything that goes through the 'transporter', so with enough energy to convert to mass they should be able to 'beam' down an army of 'red shirts' on demand, regardless of whether they actually have any security personnel on board at the time.
HarlequinR chapter 1 . 2/20/2015
Liking the ship design aspects but I thought replicators just rearanged matter rather than mass/energy conversion.
Abyssal Angel chapter 7 . 11/7/2014
Reading this was amazing! You just gave me so many ideas for one of my stories, I don't even know where to begin to implement them all! This is so getting favorited and followed. I really hope you continue this. I started out searching for info on the Star Trek verse and found something so much better! Thank you!
alex.rushing.5 chapter 7 . 10/21/2014

Coco Solo chapter 7 . 10/18/2014
What got me reading this story was your rant about the Q Continuum in your authors note, they happen to be one of the my favorite things about Trek. It was my annoyance that sucked me into checking out your yarn. I'm glad I did! It was hilarious.

It has driven me crazy for YEARS why they didn't have retractable Warp nacels. You're also right the flying-saucer-old-school-sailing-ship-rocket-hybrid design for the star ships while cool don't really serve a practical purpose. I guess in TNG they tried to give a good reason so they came up with the concept of separating the saucer in emergencies. Your cigar shape would work way better in the real space travel, maybe they could be modular and have parts separate in an emergency?

However I wouldn't call what you concocted "smart" trek no offense I'd call it 'Alt Trek' or 'Different Trek'. The most efficient way to convert matter into energy is by colliding matter with anti-matter. The replicators probably use the raw energy produced by the warp engines in order to make the food, tools, etc. The transporters are never explained but it's implied that they use quantum entanglement to copy the quantum state of an object they probably have sub-atomic particles at the ready to be beamed, and reassembled in the desired location. It's not totally renewable unless they have a vast energy source hence matter anti-matter collision. Also If the Feds had this super tech you talk about in the story, then why wouldn't the klingons or the Borg?

Now about the Q and other "god-like" super-beings by removing them you'd remove some major parts of trek history. Without the Orgainians the Klingons and the Feds would still be at war. Also it's interesting to note that in real life electrons have been proven to act like waves with and be in no specific location or multiple locations at once until observed proving that the observer effects reality. It was Author C Clarks that said, "an sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic". I'm just sayin' anyways fun story definitely one of my faves very thought provoking. _
