First of all, I'm convinced there's some magical compulsions in play.
Note that not once in Canon did Minerva ever enter Gryff tower without something bad drawing her there. She never participated in any meetings or involved herself in the lives of her students.
She's Head of Gryffindor - and has almost nothing to do with her House because she's busy doing the work of both Deputy Head and Head of the school. Add Transfiguration Prof to her list and she simply has no time to spend involved with her House.

Add her slavish devotion to a man who has shown multiple times that he simply doesn't give a shite about anything or anyone but his profane greater good, and the only way you can ignore all of that is if you are simply not able to think badly of his worshipfulness.
