Reviews for So Much Lost |

![]() ![]() ![]() First off, I love how expanded the three families are with so many children! (especially my babies with five ... definitely busy in bed hehehe). Had a bit of trouble keeping track of who had which children, but I think I have it down (I think). You gave us the backstories of all the families in the last two decades, you gave the children their own personalities ... two thumbs up already! Then I love love love how you wrote from the perspectives of so many characters: husbands, wives, children – and especially how they each respond to the upcoming war. Among the adults it's a haunted attitude, particularly for Matthew and Anthony, and for the children it's a more naive and hopeful yet still worried tone. There's a balance of talk not just about the last war but also about the future of the families. Boy it's a lot of angst, but it's not overly despondent and it's so well written besides. Honestly, if I were hiring someone to rewrite the DA canon post S2 and beyond, I'd nominate you. You are a fantastic writer and you do the STEAMM shippers (including me) proud. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I really really like it! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This chapter has so many nice character touches, with small moments that make the familiar characters ring true in their older incarnations, and give the original characters distinctive moments. |
![]() ![]() ![]() What a terrific story. I love the characters you have created, and I can't wait for more. I'm glad William came back for a final visit, but knowing what is ahead, I worry for him. Love the story, and can't wait for more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm a little late, but I just finished this chapter. It was outstanding. I loved how you had all three families, each with their own issues. The children were so interesting, and I can't wait to read more about them. Loved it, on to chapter 2. |
![]() ![]() I love it! I love when stories involve Mary and Matthew's children. You write them all very well :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aww I'm glad William came home before he was shipped out. Who knows when he's be able to visit agi |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love it! I love how you show how the war is affecting each family member differently. That almost-fight with Mary and Matthew had me a bit worried, though. XD excited for more! |
![]() ![]() Just found this story and it is really great, especially the Sybil and Tom scenes! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm enjoying the naturalness of the family interactions. Once again, the kids all feel real, but I appreciate how you keep the story also focused on the parents. Nice William/Lily scene, and great touches with the everyday frustrations, like Sybil telling Daniel not to throw his coat on the floor. Nice touch, mentioning that Matthew's hair is thinning. Also, Mary shuddering at Beth's breach of protocol when she sat next to Matthew on the couch and rested her head on his shoulder. Oh, a bittersweet ending... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very well written. I felt all of the emotions, especially for M&M. A dark, dark time for the whole world really; fighting a mad man who did not give one whit about destruction. This is just the beginning & you've captured the issues and emotions very well. Thanks. |
![]() ![]() ![]() William is officially going. All the children are figuring out what to do to help. Poor Mary and Matthew this must be so hard for them! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I liked the long chapter and thought you did justice to all the relationships (unless Matthew is an alcoholic). I like that Mary and Edith kind of get on and that Mary and Matthew had 5 kids and that Sybil became a doctor! All good stuff! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Your portrayal was just like being there to see a show I'd like to see, called 'Downton: the Next Generation.' As grave as the subject matter is, I enjoyed reading this very much. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is so angsty! I love it! The children are wonderful and each have a life of their own. Áine is definitely Doctor Branson's daughter! ;) And I love Matthew's honesty. I'm so glad Mary and Matthew are one in this. |
