Reviews for Of Citadels And Castles, Book One: Culture Shocks |

![]() ![]() ![]() It lives! No, it does not live. It thrives. Excellent chapter, well worth the wait. On the more comment side of the review, Seetah was in charge for how long now? A few decades? And he chose four harem members every year? ... the odds of him not having any children are small. Very small. (/he'll be a hilarious odd mythological figure, so of like Kronos, Balor, or Ymir. On one hand, he's a crazy bastard. On the other, he's the old man or all these awesome dudes) So in a decade or two, Machias is gonna have a whole brood of new quarian apprentices. Also, the man seriously needs a Thorn Mantical. And you accidentally wrote "Machias and Machias" instead of "Machias and Seetah" during the part where Machias drops Seetah on that island. |
![]() ![]() Thanks for your story! |
![]() ![]() ![]() neat |
![]() ![]() ![]() This story is awesome. I recently discovered the Dresden Files myself, listen to the first book as an audio book and loved it. Plus I always find it fun when magic meets Mass Effect. Keep up the good work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well, hello there. I'm happy to see this fic has a new chapter. I was concerned about your well being, or that your muse had abandoned you. I don't wish to wait a whole year to read a new chapter. So, Pragia is next, will they find Jack's old home? What kind of visions will Mac find there? Till next time. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well, that was fun. I found Machias's solution for Seefah to be delightfully ironic, given quarian culture. Exile for them is almost worse than death. And Aeia was unique. Reminds me a lot of Demonreach, except not confined to a single island. Great job, and looking forward to the next chapter! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wahoo! Thought that this fic was dead. I am glad that you used a bit of trickery and fundamentals to decide that fight rather than turning it into an anime battle. And now that the story is moving on I'm looking forward to where things are going from here on out. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, you managed to convince me to give similar stories a try, because if they are half as good as this, then they will be very enjoyable for me. You also might be the first author on the site I read stuff from that isn't part of a series. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm sort of imagining Machias just standing in a circle while Seefah uselessly throws all the magic he's got at it. That speech? Awesome. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Good idea, bad execution. Sad to see potential wasted. Better luck next time. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, this could get *VERY* interesting. That said, you made a few mistakes. Firstly, this story needs line breaks. Badly. Secondly, and this is common with "Fish out of water" stories, for some bizarre reason, Castle basically automatically trusted his life and his finances to the first person he met, with no questions asked. He literally didn't know her name until after he "hired" her. Another, similar, mistake was in giving in to her demand that she be told everything about the supernatural. Since, under the White Council, that's very nearly enough to get your head chopped off, that seems like a bad idea, seeing as he made that agreement *before* ascertaining that they were gone. I had more, but I forgot them, and I have to go now. |
![]() ![]() ![]() You got scene dividers now. :) Very interesting story, definitely going on my favorites! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great concept. BUT PLEASE USE SCENE BREAKS! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent story so far! I love how you've set everything up. Mac's literally the only Terran magic user around. No White Council, no Vampire Courts, no Fae. Instead, you're unveiling the hidden magical histories of the different space-faring races. It's pretty fascinating, and this whole business with the Raya crash is even more so. Keep up the excellent work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Nice story so far! Nice twist with Nihlus being in charge of Benezia instead of Saren. Does this mean that Saren isn't a goon for Sovereign, or are both Saren and Nihlus compromised? Although, even if Saren isn't the "Big bad," he's still an asshole. But wait! It's the face of Nihlus that looked back at him when he looked into a reflective surface. If you want to be convoluted about things, then Saren is disguised as Nihlus! Though I don't think it's very likely. |
