Okay so I love your story already but I have one huge concern. I love a good SI fic but something I have read a lot is that writers will start out similar to you. That main character is an adult in a baby body and they go from there. Some have those characters get somewhat indoctrinated, in an understandable way, some have there characters go insane or evil.

But I am honest when I say that I have yet to see a writer go through with a character saying fuck it to Konoha and the ninja bullshit. A lot of people from our world would have the same mindset as Rei does because they don't want to become cannon fodder for a bunch of brainwashed murderers. But I have yet to see an author stick with their original plan of having the character abandon Konoha.

They start to love the village or can't cut their ties with people blah blah blah. This can be done well but no one ever has a character abandon Konoha and stay a missing nin. WHY?! This is a great idea but no one uses it fully. That is why I have favorited this story but it is with a grain of salt. No offense to you but I have been disappointed enough to take a wait and see approach.

I'm enjoying this so far. What exactly were your motivations for a Yamanaka self-insert? Is it identifying with Ino's personality, liking the mind techniques, or just having blonde hair?

Rei is a very interesting character - I like that she is struggling with her ambition to break free because of her attachment to Ino. Looking forward to seeing what happens next :)

I'd like to see this continue. Most of the Yamanaka fics I find are either Ino's twin or Ino's innocent little sister so this direction is refreshing.
With that said, I hope you update.
