As a general rule, if anything in my writing seems too out there, to sick, weird or just plain insane to possibly be anything other than wild fantasy, it’s that and that alone that *isn’t* made up.
Back in the 60’s and 70’s Psychologists really did make a set of evil robotic mothers to torment baby animals to try to understand why babies feel affection for parents, even if the parents are horrible at it. Bodies left to rot without enough air really can turn into wax (trust me as an archaeologist who has popped open more than his fair share of Victorian lead coffins, it’s not nice). Doctors really have implanted electrodes into people brains to stop their hands shaking, as a treatment for Parkinson’s. The more insane bits of this fic are the real bits.

Scaphism was an actual ancient Persian execution method, used on traitors and those who insulted the emperor. The name comes from the Greek σκάφη, skáphe, 'to scoop of hollow out' in reference to hollowing out logs to make the canoe. There’s some debate as to how much of this is just anti-Persian Greek propaganda, but it appears in a couple of different accounts from different periods, so it looks like was a real thing.

Oh my. Gotta give it to you, that is one heck of a torture method you came up with there. I'm looking forward to seeing the Jäger-subplot progress, and how Rocket will deal with that in the future.
Meanwhile, the rest of the chapter was exciting. I get the feeling Nebula's plan is falling apart though, so Gamora better hurry up before Plan B is activated.

I am so glad this fic has been updated, thank you! I've loved this story from the start. You are such a talented writer. Each of their characters are impeccably well done with everything from their body language to their dialogue and more! This fic takes so many exciting twists and turns. Rocket's torture with the Collector and the flash backs were especially horrific. I've never read something like Groot's sections in this fic before either! I really adore this entire adventure, how it's so episodic! I admire your dedication to this series and discipline to continue writing it. It is poignant and exciting and I can't wait to read more! Could I make a small suggestion, give or take! Maybe write a scene with Rocket being kinder with Groot? You do every other aspect of his character so well. You can tell he loves Groot but he doesn't show it very much, which is true to character but maybe throw in a scene with him showing an inkling of tenderness to his best friend? Even if it's in private? Just a suggestion!

Oh wow, I was so happy to see that you updated, and I really liked where this chapter went. Gammy is such a badass and Tabby didn't piss me off for once. I also really loved Shang and his relationship with Rocket, as well as the plans that Roc and Peter were trying to come up with while escaping. Drax was super funny, as always.

I just reread your entire story again and I have to say it is definitely still one of the best fan fictions I've ever encountered in terms of humour, story, new ideas and plot and characters and characterisation. I am now really looking forward to your next update in either this or Earning the Badge.

Actually, I was just thinking about this fic yesterday. What are the odds?

I'd make a list of everything I loved about this chapter, but that would end up being very long, because I loved literally everything about this. You capture the spirit of the characters and the series so well, it's fantastic and hilarious.
If I had to pick a favourite part though, it would probably be your additional worldbuilding. You just made up a whole culture on the fly, amongst other things, and as ridiculous as it is, it also makes perfect sense.
Man, I can't ever get enough of your writing.

I'm just a little confused about the ending of this chapter though; it almost looks like you accidentally left some draft elements in? Or was that intentional?

I have some questions about this scene:

"Laughing, he walked helplessly in ever decreasing circles for a few moments, tears streaming down his snout with the rain "

1. When Rocket cried, did his tears specifically stream down:
A: The bridge of his snout and off the tip of his nose as he hung his head
or
B: The side of his snout diagonally and off his lower jaw and chin

2. Dumb question but on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the saltiest, how salty would Rocket's tears taste on my tongue if I licked them directly from his snout?

3. On a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being freezing cold and 10 being scalding hot, how warm were those tears streaming down Rocket's snout?

I know these questions sound weird but please please PLEASE reply back! Because every time I read that scene, I fantasize licking every last tear from Rocket's snout.
