Poor Remus. I love this story and I’m so glad you updated it!

Is the problem with them being together their ages? So what is the age of consent in the wizarding world? Why would Remus have a problem with it being that he is a man lover and him and Tonk would never have anything but a friendship relationship?

This story is so well writter I don't mind waiting for the next chapter. Also I love the way Lupin clung to Sirius' only relative, and that it reads with real human emotion. It invokes emotion on a level I have never felt before from reading.

Up until chapter 23, Dignity in Fear is one of the top ten stories on this website. The way you describe emotions is second to none. It even inspired me to write my own Hermione/Tonks story (Under Guard). But the recent Lupin arc is ruining this fic because it feels like a thinly veiled author opinion insert on gay/lesbian solidarity and besides that and angst it adds nothing to the story.

First of all, it kinda came out of nowhere. There was very little preamble, there was no deeper friendship between Tonks and Lupin beforehand. Then it takes away canon Tonks most endearing qualities. In OOTP, she was the one person who did not cower in fear, who kept the spirits up despite Voldemort's return. And since chapter 24, she lost that. She joined the doom and gloom train. And lastly, there seems to be no point in the whole arc. Hermione is not jealous, she just wants alone time with her girlfriend. The one point you have right is that "self pity and nothing else" is a pretty canon accurate depiction of Lupin.

Hermione does not even worry about Harry, who had lost the one father figure he had left (and Lupin does not interact with Harry outside of DADA and the time he broke his marriage vows). So Hermione forgets the one friend to whom she was more loyal than anyone else and instead we get four chapters with nothing but Angst, Lupin and Angst with Lupin.

So glad to see you back at it! This was a sight for sore eyes, even if it was dark. It was beautiful and sorrowful and heart wrecking, and impossibly lifelike. I love your writing and I dearly hope you get settled soon so you can continue with it :) Poor Remus, though. Unrequited love is a bitch. More so when you don't admit it to yourself.

I normally go for the HermionexBlack sister stories and love it. Why have I never thought of a Tonks pairing? Do they have a shipping name?
