Very good. But this isn't Spuffy.

I'm really enjoying this story. It's clear that you've thought out the story and I can't wait to read more!

Gosh, you know you're absolutely awesome with appropriately changing the styles of writing when you change the POV? Because your are. The Spike scenes are just so... so Spike. And the Buffy ones like Buffy and the Dawn ones like Dawn. It's really amazing.
And wow, Buffy assumes a Spawn pairing. I did not see that coming, mostly because it would have been kind of weird with a 14 year old Dawn in the original timeline. Which Buffy doesn't know. Huh.

That line where Buffy speculates about Spike and how she might grow "to see him as something like a brother, especially if it made Dawnie happy" made me whisper-scream at my computer "NO THAT WILL NOT MAKE DAWN HAPPY!"

Something the Council, and other characters, seem to overlook about vampires is that, nearly every time we learn what a vampire was like as a human, they were "not good". Darla, we only really saw dying, but she came from a generally-looked-down-upon profession (implying low social status from the beginning of her life) and spent who-knows-how-long dying of a virulent disease. Angelus was a drunkard and a lecher. The Gorch brothers killed however many people that was; I haven't seen that episode in a while but I remember the Scoobies hearing a body-count and Giles clarifying "Oh, that was before they were vampires." Psycho-Cruciamentum-vamp was a mentally-unstable misogynistic murderer. Drusilla was deliberately and meticulously tortured into insanity. Ford wanted to be a vampire and tried to sacrifice/kill a bunch of other people in exchange for the promise of being bitten, and also his judgement may have been compromised by brain cancer.

I suspect the main reason vampires are 'evil' in the Buffy-verse is because vampires deliberately choose people to turn whom they think would make particularly impressive Evil Vampires. They keep a lot of who they were as a human, and since vampires select who they turn, the whole process lends itself well to as close as people can get to a mono-culture.

My theory falls apart when we look at what happened with Spike's mom, but there could be occasional cases where the trauma does cause a personality shift. (Or maybe she was deliberately trying to antagonize William into dusting her because she didn't want to be a vampire, or maybe Drusilla's thrall had a hand in it, or maybe Spike's memories of what happened are, between time and trauma and The First messing with his mind, not 100% accurate.)

Sadly so very, very canon. And how long is she going to be under the misapprehension that Dawn and Spike are romantically inclined? Yikes! Still so many secrets that everyone is hiding. Great work!

Lol Dawn and Spike keep too many secrets. Poor Buffy is jealous.

I loved it. I love time travel fics when they're done well, and I'm honestly so amused by Buffy's jealousy and protectiveness over imaginary Dawn/Spike.

Love this story. Giles was so Giles.

I'm having difficulty putting thoughts into words today but I can't just not review. In brief, I loved this chapter! People are sharing! Again perhaps not everything but I can understand a bit where Dawn is coming from here too. And now Spike knows he's not "going mad" by himself. So much development in a single chapter. I will wait anxiously for more.

Had chapter 49 not ended on that cliffhanger, my guess is Dawn's use of the name "Glory" would have been the focal point of most of the comments. As it stands, only my own comment mentioned Dawn's slip, because there were more important things to talk about!

As for the cause of the temporal anomalies: I've got a theory, but it sadly isn't a dancing demon this time. Something isn't right there, and I'm thinking it's the Dawn-Key merger in Chapter 25 that did this - Dawn herself noted that time is just another dimension in Chapter 26, and younger-Dawn never existed in any post-Dawn's-time-travel timeline so Buffy's visions of younger-Dawn in Chapter 32 make no sense.

Then again, half of the Chapter 32 visions make even less sense, so I might be completely off track.

I hadn't even considered a rescue party. I was too excited by the prospect of Dawn sharing the truth . . . well some truth anyway. How long will she be able to keep her secrets?
