You very quickly gloss over Dracos racism. Which is pretty shitty. If you were reading a story in which the local kid who claimed to love Nazis and said the N word was sitting with a black kid, and everyone just shrugged off him being racist, it would be a pretty bad look. Not saying he can't be redeemed but he just, shows no remorse other than maybe Snape being mad at him.

I think that the issue of abuse should be addressed and you do it brilliantly and optimistically by giving Harry the new guardianship

I love Snape's handling of the Dursley's penance. Particularly diabolical, since they are incapable of empathy or remorse. Delicious!
